Leaders of clinical officersโ€™ unions in Kenya have called on the government to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and services across the country.

Speaking under the leadership of national chairperson Moses Konde Matole, they emphasized the need for increased investment by both national and county governments to ensure quality and accessible healthcare for all Kenyans. They also urged the public to understand and properly utilize the SHA health insurance scheme.

Courtesy Call to COG

The Kenya Clinical Officers Association (KCOA) National Executive Committee (NEC) yesterday paid a courtesy call to the Council of Governors (CoG) office in Westlands, Nairobi.

This visit followed a successful Nairobi Region visit and was Made Possible by Dr. Tom Michira Nyakaba, Chief Officer of Public Health in Nairobi County and Secretary General for the County Chief Officers of Health Caucus.

The KCOA team, comprising Moses Matole (President), Philemon Maiyek (Treasurer), and William Masidza (Organizing Secretary), held fruitful discussions with CoG Team , including Director of Health COG Cathra Ali and HR expert Madam Caroline Mage.

Key discussion points included:
- Introduction and Familiarization: KCOA was introduced to CoG, highlighting its roles in career progression, professional development, and welfare.
- Support for KCOA Structures: CoG expressed support for KCOA's national, regional, and branch-level structures.
- Advocacy and Partnerships: KCOA sought partnerships and advocacy for clinical officers.
- Collaboration Baseline: A baseline for collaboration was established.

The CoG team promised mentorship, engagement opportunities, and recognition of KCOA's efforts in promoting Primary Health Care (PHC). KCOA NEC pledged to scale up engagements and explore opportunities.
