Hey check out our fund-raising campaign to scale-up mental health services in rural Kenya!
In November, Bryan and I had an opportunity to visit AIC Litein Hospital. We are incredibly excited about their facility and committment to mental health from bottom-up. Please consider some end-of-year donations to help us meet our goal so this clinic can open in February 2022!

We've been in Nairobi, Kenya, for almost 3months, and are starting to feel settled - driving on the left (whoa), navigating the local health-care-system through miscarriage #2 (sadness), watching Lizzie enjoy hours of outside time (joy).
When your church makes a video helping you (two awkward-on-camera-people) explain what you do overseas. Grateful to Mountview Christian Church!

It's been a year since our last newsletter updates. We're pleased to be able to share that we plan to travel soon to Nairobi, Kenya, for 2 years. See the attached newsletter for updates about Lizzie (almost 2yo!), SARS-CoV-19 in Africa, and more.

4years later, it goes on...
I don't have words.
Cameroon says the economies of its troubled English-speaking western regions are collapsing as a result of the country’s four-year separatist conflict. Officials say the ongoing fighting has made tax revenues in the English-speaking Northwest region drop from $800,000 annually to just $1,000 la...

I wanted to draw your attention to the link for this year's MedRetreat at Alongside, which will take place at the Alongside campus in Richland, MI, from July 19-29, 2020.
Alongside’s MedRetreat is a ten-day program designed specifically for healthcare professionals serving cross-culturally. In addition to daily plenary sessions on critical topics, group debriefing/counseling, and personal counseling sessions, the retreat offers plenty of opportunity to unplug, relax, and enjoy ALONGSIDE’s beautiful campus.
Would you be willing to help "get the word out" to the healthcare professionals serving cross-culturally whom you feel could benefit from attending? This year's program has plenty of room, and they are hoping to impact as many as possible. You can direct interested people to...

Fascinating. I had assumed (wrongly) that African countries don't have enough tests - but they do!
Worth a read if you're curious about how this huge continent is doing!
"The East African countries that are, so far, outperforming the global West benefitted from Ebola preparations..."
From the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, many countries in Africa pursued public-health measures more aggressively than the U.S. and Europe did.

Really terrible happenings
Billions of locusts are destroying food supplies in the Horn of Africa during the coronavirus outbreak.
