Total Knee Replacement explained 🦵

When knee arthritis or injury causes severe pain and stiffness, a total knee replacement can restore movement by replacing the damaged joint surfaces with smooth, artificial components designed to mimic natural motion. The goal: less pain, better function, improved quality of life.

Dr Eva Lang'at explains why your knees pop 👩‍⚕️🦵

Knee popping is common and often harmless — it can be caused by gas bubbles, ligaments moving, or normal joint motion. But if it’s painful or persistent, it’s worth getting checked.

✋🏾 5 Common Hand Conditions I See All The Time

As an orthopaedic surgeon, these are some of the most frequent hand problems in my clinic:

1️⃣ De Quervain’s Tenosynovitis – Pain at the thumb side of the wrist, common in new mums and heavy phone users.
2️⃣ Carpal Tunnel Syndrome – Numbness and tingling in the thumb, index and middle fingers, especially at night.
3️⃣ Trigger Finger – A finger that locks, clicks, or snaps when you try to straighten it.
4️⃣ Ganglion Cyst – A soft lump on the wrist or finger that comes and goes.
5️⃣ Mallet Finger – A drooping fingertip after a sports injury or sudden impact.

Most of these are treatable — especially when diagnosed early.

Don’t ignore hand pain. Your hands do more than you think.
