What is a febrile seizure? Febrile seizures are caused by a fever or high temperature. Most febrile seizures happen to babies and children aged between the ages of six months and three years.

At this age the part of the brain that regulates body temperature hasn't fully developed yet. A febrile seizure may look scary but as Sarah's story shows, simple actions can help.

1. Protect the child/baby from injury. Don not restrain them. Use pillows for soft padding, such as blanket or clothing to protect their head.

2. Take off their outer clothing to help cool them.

3. When the siezure is over, help them rest on their side with their head tilted back. Call an ambulance for Emmergency help.
