Following last week’s incident in Jebel Iraq, it was shocking to hear that SSPDF forces Dinka fellow .. These Dinka forces are now targeting and killing all Nuer sons who survived the attack and are still present in the area, mining there. The government was supposed to protect these survivors after the aftermath of the Khor-khaltan Jebel Iraq mining sites. Some people are claiming the attack was by SPLM-IO, which Dinka people believe belongs to the Nuer. It’s truly sad! It’s only in South Sudan that the national army has taken sides to retaliate against the rebel group for killing its citizens.
I know most people won’t agree with me because the truth is bitter. Some will rush to judge my intellectuality and patriotism, because being informed in South Sudan is often associated with not telling the truth or highlighting wrongdoing, not to this extent.
Initially, the incident was alleged to be NAS forces attacking Khor-khaltan, and most of the victims were from Awiel and Warrap, with other states reporting fewer casualties. The reason for the killings remains undisclosed.
Following the incident, many Nuer have been targeted, resulting in numerous deaths, arrests, and others being scattered into the wilderness. Their current condition is unknown. I know some of the victims personally, while others I don’t know but have heard about. The killing continues unabated.
Imagine innocent lives lost because some Dinka and Nuer were killed by the unknown gunmen. Now, why is the national army killing these Nuer as revenge, when they are ordinary citizens who went to the mining sites (Jebel Iraq) to provide for their families?
