💙🎗️ BlueRibboner of the Week: Charley Blackman
This week we shine the Blue Ribbon spotlight on a man of heart, depth, discipline…and questionable mandazi portion control 😌
Meet Charley Blackman aka on IG.
By profession, Charley is a Community Associate at Food for Education, working with schools, governments, and communities to strengthen school feeding programs and improve child nutrition and learning outcomes. In short? He feeds the future. Literally.
At home, he’s a proud father to two amazing boys and a self-declared Daddzy to one Luo Woman 🤭 (Sir. We see you.)
💔 Why He Runs
Charley first ran with us in February 2025 during the Ribbons of Hope Run 2025.
Losing the mother of his children to cancer changed his world completely. And when he found Blue Ribbon - an organization committed to awareness, sensitization, and standing with families - it meant something deeply personal.
His words say it best: “I run for awareness. I run for families fighting in silence. I run so that one day, fewer Kenyan families will have to carry this pain.”
Tuko pamoja, Charley. Always. 💙🎗️
🏃🏾♂️ Running = Therapy
For Charley, running isn’t just cardio.
It’s therapy.
It’s clarity.
It’s showing up.
“Some roads in life are to be taken whether alone or in groups - it has to get done.”
That right there? That’s Blue Ribbon energy.
😎 What We Know About Him (That He Didn’t Say)
• Eats way more mandazis than medically advisable.
• Disciplined in his training (even when we are not watching 👀).
• Always smiling.
• Low-key undercover fashion icon on and off race days. Coordination level: suspiciously intentional.
Charley, we honor your heart, your strength, your vulnerability, and your vibes. Here’s to more beautiful days ahead. More miles. More mandazis. More awareness.
Blue Ribbon family, show Charley some love. 💙
