They don’t teach you this in dental school… but we wish they did 👀🦷 These are 3 underrated habits every dentist wants you to know:

1️⃣ Whitening toothpaste shouldn’t be used daily – It’s abrasive and can wear down enamel over time. Use it sparingly!
2️⃣ Wait about 30 minutes after brushing before using mouthwash
3️⃣ Rinse with water after coffee – It helps neutralize acids and reduces staining without overbrushing.

I know nobody wants to hear this 😅 but you really should get a dental exam and cleaning before whitening your teeth — even if you’re doing it at home.

Here’s why 👇
Whitening isn’t recommended if you have:
🦷 Active gum disease
🦷 Untreated cavities
🦷 Sensitive teeth (it’ll make them more sensitive)
🦷 A lot of enamel wear or gum recession

And for teens (under 18) — whitening usually isn’t advised yet. Their teeth and nerves are still developing, which means they can become super sensitive.

This doesn’t mean whitening is off the table forever — it just means any dental issues need to be treated first, so you can whiten safely later. 💡

Healthy teeth first, white teeth second. 🤍
