UNICEF Kenya, funded by UK in Kenya, is supporting the Government of Kenya to improve the Kenya Social and Economic Inclusion Project (KSEIP).

This includes developing monitoring and evaluation frameworks, targeting protocols, and Anticipatory Action guidelines in partnership with the State Department for Children Services, World Bank Kenya, and the Children's Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF).

Under KSEIP, the Nutrition Improvements through Cash and Health Education (NICHE) programme will reach 57,000 vulnerable households with children and pregnant women. Additionally, 36,000 households with out-of-school adolescents will be supported to return and stay in school, aiming to reduce malnutrition and teenage pregnancy.

Turning data into action!

Youth across 20 countries transformed environmental data into real-world impact. More than 2,500 young people in Africa and the Caribbean have taken part in the Yoma Waste Mapping Challenge, using digital mapping tools to identify waste hotspots and organize community clean-ups that improve local environments.

Led by UNICEF, Generation Unlimited, Yoma, and the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team (HOT), the initiative demonstrates how youth leadership and technology can help create solutions to address environmental challenges. Participants build digital and open-mapping skills, learn the fundamentals of environmental action, and earn Verifiable Credentials, digital certificates that recognize their newly developed skills and community contributions.

Together, participants have helped collect more than 114,000 kilograms of waste while also accessing learning opportunities, tracking their progress, and documenting their impact.
