Teenage is an important period of time in a teen’s life , as it is often the turning point to determine the kind of adult they will become. It’s a stage when they encounter many stresses and future stability.

Therefore, it is vital to safeguard your teenage children’s mental health. As a parent, you can be a pillar of support for your teen by observing him closely and identifying if there are any signs of deterioration and emotional upheavals, which can affect their wellbeing.

Here are the some tips for parents can help teens stay away from metal stress:

Fostering effective communication:
One shouldn't await the proper time or for the teenagers to get older to possess a conversation with them about psychological state . It is important to encourage them to speak about their lives, peer pressures, their urge to undertake any substance or alcohol and their insecurities about their body or self-image. Asking them questions like how are they doing in academics and if bad grades bother them more , are they dating anyone, and whom are they spending time with after school hours, will give us some idea about what's going inside the child's mind. At first teens are not cooperative but gradually, he or she would open up. Parents shouldn't judge or criticize them because it will discourage the youngsters from sharing their experiences.

Encouraging social connection:
Avoiding human connection and living in a solitary is an another of form indication they have some issue. Parents should encourage teens to spend some quality time with their friends, relatives and neighbors as social connections can help an individual gain knowledge, shift focus from the self to others and foster good friendships. Teens who are loners are more vulnerable to depression.
Teen years are marked by hormonal changes and brain development which may impact their decision-making abilities. They constantly need guideness that they're on the proper path. Indulging themselves in volunteering and doing some charity works will help them to understand that there are other peoples who might have more serious problems, but have decided to live.

Prioritizing physical health:
Teens must be motivated to do physical activities like playing, fitness etc.. . If they sit idle or adopt a sedentary lifestyle, they're going to gain weight, which may produce to depressive symptoms. Regular workout helps relax the mind and body, and boost the feel-good hormones. Parents should discourage their children from eating processed and food and instead, should encourage them to specialise in nourishing foods with essential minerals and vitamins. In addition, they need to be encouraged to spend less time on their mobile phones and sleep for a minimum of eight to 10 hours without fail.

Reaching for professional support
Helping an adolescent make healthy choices are often a stepping stone for preventing any psychological state disorders. If an adolescent is already battling depression, it's best to hunt professional support for timely recovery. Parents should reassure them that with proper care, they're going to be alright.
