Promoting Radiation Safety in Kenya’s Health Sector
Today, CHAK had the pleasure of hosting two representatives from the Kenya Nuclear Regulatory Authority (KNRA) at the CHAK Dosimetry Laboratory as part of the annual licensing inspection process.
The KNRA team, hosted by CHAK’s Medical Equipment Services (MES) team, conducted a comprehensive review of our dosimetry services. We are encouraged by their valuable feedback and proud that they lauded CHAK’s dosimetry equipment as being of superior quality compared to other service providers.
At CHAK, we remain committed to advancing radiation safety through reliable and high-quality dosimetry monitoring.

“Delivering results for Kenyans requires intentional and sustained partnership.”

Speaking during a strategic meeting between and General Secretary & CEO Dr. Chris Barasa and Acting CEO Douglas Bosire affirmed their shared commitment to advancing health outcomes through structured collaboration—particularly as donor funding shifts toward a Government-to-Government model.

NSDCC recognised the pivotal role of Faith-Based Organizations in reaching underserved communities and driving sustainable behaviour change.

CHAK highlighted two proven, locally developed innovations—C-MAT and IMARA Care—which advance integration and sustainability in alignment with the Kenya AIDS Integration Framework. Together, these models respond to the triple challenge of new HIV infections, adolescent pregnancies, and SGBV.

Both institutions committed to strengthening collaboration on data and reporting, community health systems, programme design, and evidence-informed implementation.

This is partnership translated into impact.

Cervical cancer remains one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths among women in Kenya, yet it is preventable and eliminable. As a faith-based health network, CHAK continues to provide strategic leadership in supporting the implementation of the National Cervical Cancer Elimination Action Plan aligned to the WHO 90–70–90 targets.

During the Cervical Cancer Awareness Month, CHAK strengthened national efforts by disseminating the National Cervical Cancer Elimination Action Plan to its Member Health Units and conducting health talks to strengthen prevention, screening, and treatment services.

Through its nationwide faith-based network, CHAK provides a bridge between policy, health systems, and communities, working closely with the Ministry of Health, the National Cancer Control Programme, and partners to accelerate progress toward the WHO 90–70–90 targets.

We remain committed to advancing partnerships that expand access and protect the health and dignity of every woman and girl.

This collaboration brings together CHAK’s extensive 80 years of health service delivery, advocacy and policy shaping and AMIU’s academic leadership, research excellence, and innovation in health sciences to advance people-centred Primary Health Care.

Through this partnership, CHAK and AMIU will jointly:
a) Co-host the Primary Health Care Congress, providing a convening platform for policy dialogue, practice, and learning
b) Collaborate on implementation research, knowledge generation, and dissemination
c) Strengthen capacity building, including student attachments and academic–practice exchange
d) Advance joint local and international advocacy for sustainable Primary Health Care systems

Rooted in shared values and a commitment to Universal Health Coverage (UHC), this partnership reflects our belief that strong health systems are built when practice, evidence, leadership and governance align towards a common goal.

We look forward to the impact this collaboration will have on communities in Kenya and beyond.
