WHEN SCIENCE LEADS, POLICY EVENTUALLY FOLLOWS:
For decades, we were told to eat more starches, fear fats, and follow the traditional food pyramid.
What happened next?
Obesity increased.
Diabetes exploded.
More people became dependent on lifelong medication.
The NEW Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2025–2030 have now changed direction, finally emphasizing real food, more protein, healthy fats, and far less refined sugar and processed carbohydrates.
But here is the important part:
When we published Kitabu cha Sukari in 2023 through Afyacode, the science was already clear. We introduced the Inverted Food Pyramid because we had seen how the old pyramid had failed generations since the 1970s by driving metabolic disease.
At Afyacode, our patients were already:
• Losing weight
• Reversing type 2 diabetes
• Reducing or stopping insulin and other medications
• Improving fatty liver, PCOS, and blood pressure
This new guideline is a step in the right direction, and we welcome it. But nutrition cannot be one-size-fits-all. What works for a healthy person is not the same for someone with diabetes or insulin resistance.
We remain proud that Kitabu cha Sukari led with science and glad that global policy is finally catching up.
