The Kariobangi Mirror GHETTO TALKS BACK. Kariobangi is one of the slums surrounding Nairobi City.

Poverty, drug addiction, crime, prostitution, HIV, youth mortality, lack of health care and waste management are the main problems affecting the community living in this area. However, Kariobangi is full of youth with great motivation of improving not only their life, but the life of the ghetto where they belong. They need a platform to share their ideas, to show their talents and get in touch with the rest of the world. The Kariobangi Mirror is founded with the intention of giving the youth an instrument of communication : acquiring information, reporting news through citizens journalism, sharing ideas on the reality where they have grown up. Communication is indeed a means of empowering youth, connecting them, opening the ghetto world to the rest of the country and the world.
