Health Benefits of PediaSure For Children
Here are some of the benefits said to accrue on the consumption of PediaSure.

Supports growth and development: PediaSure contains high-quality protein, calcium, and vitamin-D3. The regular consumption of this drink with a well-balanced, healthy diet could help an underweight child gain weight and height within 24 weeks. PediaSure claims that this benefit is clinically proven in children between the ages of three-four years.
Immune support: PediaSure is said to contain antioxidant compounds such as vitamins C and E, and selenium. A study showed that regular use of oral nutritional supplements, like PediaSure, in nutritionally at-risk picky eating children with upper respiratory tract infections, helps maintain their weight during acute infections
Apart from the above nutritional benefits, some other general benefits of PediaSure are:

Gluten-free: Some nutritional drinks contain gluten that is not suitable for children with gluten sensitivity, intolerance, or allergy. PediaSure might be a choice since all its variants are gluten-free.
Suitable for lactose intolerant children: Products are labeled as “suitable for lactose intolerance” when they contain lactose at a level that does not seem to affect anyone with lactose intolerance. PediaSure claims to contain less than four grams lactose per liter as fed, or less than 0.5 grams lactose per serving as fed. However, the product needs to be avoided in children with cow milk allergy and galactosemia.

COVID-19 AND HIGH BLOOD GLUCOSE

Why Are People Developing High Blood Glucose after Having COVID-19?

Epidemiologic data showed many years ago that Type 1 diabetes is most commonly diagnosed after acute illness such as a viral gastroenteritis or influenza.

We've learned that this prior illness causes the body's immune system to increase production of all antibodies, including the pre-existing ones such as those directed at the islet cells of the pancreas that produce insulin. This immune system attack leads to a sudden loss of insulin-producing beta cells, causing acute hyperglycemia, also known as high blood sugar level.

Once the immune system activation subsides as the acute illness resolves, the pancreas may resume making some insulin.

How Does COVID-19 bring out Type 2 Diabetes

Here are 3 scenarios that could explain why someone may be diagnosed with type 2 diabetes after surviving a bout with COVID-19:

1. The person has the disease but it hasn't yet been diagnosed.

2. The person may have Prediabetes, and the acute inflammation and or steroid treatment finally pushed them into having diabetes. For example, the acute stressor increased their insulin resistance enough that the relative deficiency of insulin production was revealed, and glucose went above the normal level.

3. The person may have been genetically at risk with mild stressor such as being overweight and mildly but not completely sedentary. But then the combination of the insulin resistance from acute infection and high dose steroids used to treat COVID-19 were such that a significant increase in production of insulin was required to keep glucose normal and the pancreas just wasn't able to increase its output to that level.

Tips for Successful Weight Loss

It appears eating at least three times per day can keep you full and reduce hunger. This is good for weight loss. Eating fewer than three times a day puts you at risk for overeating and choosing less healthy foods.

Also, the quality of food can help with hunger management and weight loss. By eating foods with low energy density, like fruits and vegetables, you'll feel fuller longer.

So, how do you lose weight? Everyone is different in the food they like, their medical histories and their lifestyles. Meeting with a registered dietitian is one way to meet your goals. He or she can assess your needs and design a nutrition plan just for you. Here are a few additional tips for successful weight loss:

1. Choose foods that satisfy hunger. These include fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean proteins.

2. Balance your meals and snacks. Fill half your plate with foods, like vegetables, that have many nutrients, fiber and few calories. This can help you eat smaller portions of higher-calorie foods, such as pasta, rice and meat.

3. Keep track of what you eat. Apps and food diaries that track calories can help you see what and when you are eating.

4. Be mindful. Learn to tell the difference between your physical hunger and hunger triggered by food availability or boredom.

5. Plan ahead. Do not skip meals or allow yourself to get too hungry. This can put you at risk of overeating.

6. Avoid high-calorie beverages. Sodas and juice provide a lot of calories but few nutrients. And they do little to help you feel satisfied.

7. Join a community. Making lifestyle changes that involve diet and physical activity is easier and more fun when other people are involved

LATCHING ON STEPS...

1. Tickle your babys lips with your ni**le. This will help the baby open their mouth wide.

2. Aim your ni**le just above your babys top lip. Make sure your babys chin isnt tucked into their chest.

3. Aim your babys lower lip away from the base of your ni**le. Babys lips should be turned outward like a fish. Your baby should lead into breast chin first and then latch onto your breast. Your babys tongue should be extended, and your breast should fill your babys mouth.

SIGNS OF A GOOD LATCH...

1. The latch is comfortable and pain free.

2. Your babys chest and stomach rest against your body, so that babys head is straight, not turned to the side.

3. Your babys chin touches breast.

4. Your babys mouth opens wide around your breast, not just the ni**le

5. Your babys lips turn out.

6. Your babys tongue cups under your breast.

7. You hear or see swallowing. The baby should not make sounds while sucking.

8. Your babys ear move slightly.
