The KDA leadership recently met with the Social Health Authority (SHA) to advocate for the dental profession and refine oral health delivery within the national health framework.

Our discussions centered on several critical areas:
• Accessibility: Addressing gaps and lack of clarity in dental service availability.
• Benefit Packages: Evaluating the adequacy of benefits, specifically the POMSF package.
• Financials: Seeking predictable tariffs and streamlined reimbursement processes.
• Operations: Resolving challenges in provider onboarding, contracting, and claims management.
• Strategic Alignment: Ensuring the scope of covered services aligns with UHC and primary healthcare goals.

We have agreed on clear action points and scheduled follow-up sessions. Please be assured that your interests are being actively represented as we work to protect the profession and improve national oral health standards.

Our team had an incredible time connecting with the BDS Class of 2026 finalists during their celebratory dinner! It was a privilege to share a meal, exchange stories, and offer practical insights as these bright minds prepare to step into professional practice.

The evening’s takeaway? Success in dentistry is about more than just clinical skill—it’s about resilience, lifelong learning, and the power of community. 🤝

We reminded the finalists that they don’t have to walk this path alone. Through the Association, they have a lifelong home for mentorship, support, and professional growth.

Congratulations to the next generation of dentists! We can’t wait to see the impact you’ll make. 🎓✨

Celebrating Community & Healthy Smiles! 🦷✨

Every friday, we will be sharing community stories and how our organization and its members are taking oral health to the grassroots.

In a united front for World Oral Health Day, Arrow Dental, the Gem Smiles Foundation, and the Dental Students Association of Kenya (DSAK) teamed up to bring the global theme—“A Happy Mouth is a Happy Life”—to the heart of our communities.

This initiative is more than just a campaign; it is a vibrant celebration of health and unity. Through strategic public engagement and community-focused interactions, these partners are driving home the vital message that oral health is a fundamental cornerstone of overall wellbeing.

Highlights of their Collaboration:
• Education & Prevention: Empowering the public with the tools and knowledge to maintain lifelong healthy smiles.
• Professional Mentorship: Fostering a spirit of unity and growth within the dental fraternity by connecting seasoned professionals with the next generation of dentists from DSAK.
• Strategic Advocacy: Amplifying the conversation on oral health as a priority for a healthy nation.

This partnership reflects a deep-rooted commitment to advancing awareness and encouraging positive oral health behaviors throughout Kenya. We applaud Arrow Dental , Gem Smiles Foundation, and DSAK for their dedication to making our nation smile brighter!

It’s “Toto Thursday,” and we’re talking teeth! 🦷✨

It’s tempting to keep the sippy cup full of juice or sweet tea to keep them happy, but constant sipping is actually a recipe for cavities. Keeping those sugar bugs away is easier when we stick to water between meals!

💡 Quick Tips for Today:
• Limit the “Linger”: Try to keep sugary drinks to mealtimes only.
• Water is King: Keep a water bottle handy for hydration throughout the day.
• The 20-Minute Rule: Every sip of sugar starts a 20-minute “acid attack” on tooth enamel.

Let us know in the comments any challenges you usually have with your children’s teeth!

Let’s keep those little smiles bright and healthy! 🇰🇪💙

Did you know that a worn-out toothbrush can be up to 30% less effective at cleaning your teeth? 🦷✨

It’s easy to forget, but changing your toothbrush every 3 months (and after any cold or flu!) is one of the simplest ways to keep your family healthy. Frayed bristles are harder on your gums and softer on plaque—the exact opposite of what you want!

Pro-tip: Set a recurring calendar reminder or use the changing of the seasons as your cue to grab a fresh one! 🍂❄️🌱☀️
