On Friday 20th July, we held an Active Citizenship Day in partnership with Mawawe School

We had three guest speakers - Nzula an ex-student of St.Patricks, Mary and Honourable Isaac. They each spoke to the students about life after school, equality and rights and on the importance of loving yourself. With the overall message being Disability in not an Inability

After that we all interacted through team building activities and sports

We also received a generous donation of soda and water for everyone from Isaac!

Here at St.Patricks, the VSO volunteers have been helping the students with confidence and team building.

We organised an exercise where the students had to build stick teepees in small groups, then they built a bigger one at the end and tested the strength with rocks

We all had a great morning :)

Here’s a video from our great community day we had on St Patrick’s Day at the school. There was lots of dancing and with the communities help, we renovated the chicken coop and now have 50 chicks!

This Saturday (17th March) we have an exciting event at St Patrick's School!

At 11 we have mass, followed by a community open day.
We will be rebuilding our chicken coop so that we have a small sustainable income. We will be having people come and speak at the event, there will be fun games and lots more. Please come along and invite your friends and family. If you have any building skills, resources, or even a chicken to donate, that would be very appreciated.

Today at St Patrick’s we had Thomas from Upendo come to speak with us. Thomas spoke to us about just because you may have a disability, you are fully capable of having a fulfilling and positive future. We were taught that we can do and be anything we wish, and that the human spirit is one of ability, perseverance and courage that no disability can steal away.

Here at St Patrick's together with the VSO volunteers we have been running self-esteem and art therapy workshops with the students. We believe art therapy can be very therapeutic and beneficial to individuals, it allows someone to express themselves (particularly helpful to those who are non-verbal), explore emotions and increases self-esteem. Here the children have been drawing themselves and writing compliments about each other. Keep an eye out for more arty updates from the kids!
