Join us for the December SmartQ session 🌈

Nonbinary transition has no single path—
it’s an ongoing process of aligning body, identity, and daily life in your own way.

This SmartQ covers medical choices such as hormone therapy and surgery options,
as well as social transition experiences like changes in name, pronouns, relationships, work, and legal gender.

We’re also opening an anonymous board where you can share your stories:
changes in name/pronouns, navigating family or workplace, systemic barriers,
and the support that helped you stay grounded.
(Anonymous submissions; some may be shared during the session.)

Registration is free and can be done with a nickname.

KOR] 대한성형외과학회 PRS Korea 2025에서 로봇을 활용한 복막질형성술 경험을 나누었습니다.

올해는 특히 한국 최초의 트랜스젠더 코호트 연구 KITE 연구 결과가 공유되어, 트랜스젠더·성별다양성 커뮤니티의 삶과 건강을 데이터로 조명한 뜻깊은 순간이기도 했습니다.

이번 학회에는 총 4개의 성별확정수술 관련 세션이 마련되어 수술 기법부터 합병증 관리, 로봇 접근법, 장기적 건강 논의까지 다양한 지식 교류가 이어졌습니다. 성소수자 건강을 위한 전문적 대화의 장이 점차 확장되고 있다는 사실이 매우 의미 있게 다가옵니다.

국내외에서 지식을 나누기 위해 와주신 모든 분들께 감사드립니다.
센터는 앞으로도 더 안전하고, 더 affirming한 진료를 만들어가기 위해 학계와 커뮤니티를 잇는 역할을 계속하겠습니다.

[ENG]At PRS Korea 2025, we shared our experience with robotic peritoneal vaginoplasty, reflecting on how this field continues to evolve within Korea’s medical landscape.

This year marked a historic milestone with the presentation of findings from KITE, Korea’s first transgender health cohort study.
For the first time, the lives and health of transgender and gender-diverse communities were illuminated through data—an essential step toward building evidence-based, affirming care.

The conference featured four dedicated sessions on gender-affirming surgery, spanning surgical techniques, complication management, robotic approaches, and long-term health.
Seeing this academic space expand, with deeper and more multidisciplinary discussions, was both encouraging and meaningful for the future of LGBTQ+ health.

We extend our gratitude to everyone who traveled to share their knowledge and expertise.Our Center will continue connecting academic work with community needs, striving toward safer and more affirming care for all.

plastic surgery, general surgery, and urology
can now operate simultaneously —

[KOR] 피부와 모발, 그리고 삶의 질까지 다룬 현실적인 세미나 💬

지난 10월 28일, 제6회 KALM 오픈세미나가 ‘성별확정 호르몬 요법과 피부·모발 건강’을 주제로 열렸습니다.

살림의원 추혜인 원장님과 온누리피부과 오대현 원장님이 함께해,

호르몬 변화 속 여드름·탈모 패턴부터 맞춤형 관리 전략,

그리고 일상 속 피부 루틴까지 꼼꼼히 짚어주셨어요.

참여자 중 57%가 성소수자 당사자였고,

“실제 적용 가능한 유익한 정보였다”는 후기가 이어졌습니다.

평균 만족도 9.1점, 추천 의향 91%!

KALM은 앞으로도 성소수자 건강의 현실적이고 실질적인 지원을 이어갑니다.

On October 28, the 6th KALM Open Seminar explored “Gender-Affirming Hormone Therapy and Skin & Hair Health.”

With Dr. Hyein Choo (Salim Clinic) and Dr. Daehyun Oh (Onnuri Dermatology),

participants learned about hormone-related skin and hair changes,

customized hormone care, and daily skincare routines for trans and gender-diverse individuals.

57% of attendees were LGBTQ+ individuals, sharing positive feedback like

“Practical and directly applicable information.”

With an impressive 91% recommendation rate,

KALM continues its commitment to improving q***r health in Korea.

강동성심병원 LGBTQ+센터가 올해 처음으로 제주퀴어프라이드에 참가했습니다!
산지천을 따라 이어진 퀴어프라이드의 바람 속에서,
센터는 부스를 통해 성소수자 전문 진료영역을 소개하고
평소 궁금했지만 전문적인 의료 정보를 얻을 수 없었던 고민들을
제주 지역 성소수자분들과 직접 만나 소통했습니다.

서울에 위치하지만, 늘 제주에서 찾아와 주시는 많은 분들이 계십니다.
그래서 이번 만남은 더욱 특별했습니다.
“돌 같은 저항으로, 바람 같은 연대로”라는 올해의 주제처럼
단단한 마음으로 서로의 건강과 삶을 지켜주는 연대의 바람이 제주 전역에 퍼져나가길 바랍니다.

For the first time, the LGBTQ+ Center of Gangdong Sacred Heart Hospital joined the Jeju Q***r Pride Festival!
Amid the lively crowd by Sanjicheon, our booth introduced q***r-affirming healthcare and offered a space for open medical conversations.

Many of our visitors from Jeju have long traveled to Seoul for care —
so this moment of meeting face-to-face felt deeply meaningful.
Under this year’s theme, “Resistance like stone, solidarity like wind,”
we felt the warmth and strength of a community standing together for health, equality, and love.

Thank you to everyone who visited and to the Jeju q***r community for your courage and connection.

10월 15일, 강동성심병원 LGBTQ+센터는 다빈치 로봇 수술 교육에 다녀왔습니다.

이번 교육은 다빈치 SP 시스템을 통한 성별확정수술을 더욱 섬세하고 안전하게 시행하기 위한 자리였어요.

센터에서는 외과 박준호 교수님, 비뇨의학과 정현철 교수님, 그리고 성형외과 표영길 수술전담간호사가 함께했습니다.

새로운 기술을 배우고 익히는 모든 과정 속에,

환자 한 분 한 분의 삶을 존중하는 마음이 담겨 있습니다.

앞으로도 LGBTQ+센터는 성별확정진료의 전문성과 안전성을 높이기 위한 노력에 최선을 다하겠습니다.

On October 15, the LGBTQ+ Center at Kangdong Sacred Heart Hospital attended the Da Vinci robotic surgery training.

This program focused on enhancing the Da Vinci SP system–based gender-affirming surgery, ensuring greater accuracy and safety.

Professor Junho Park (Surgery), Professor Hyuncheol Jeong (Urology), and perioperative nurse Younggil Pyo (Plastic Surgery) represented our center.

Every step of learning and training reflects our deep respect for each patient’s identity and journey.
