[Dr. Park Lectures on Pe**le Implants at 12th AKU & KSSMA Joint Symposium]

On July 6th, the Association of Korean Urologists (AKU) and the Korean Society of Sexual Medicine Association (KSSMA) held their 12th joint symposium. This symposium is part of a Continuing Medical Education (CME) program for board certified urologists in South Korea

At the symposium, Dr. Park was invited to give a lecture on inflatable pe**le implant surgery. He presented by using actual surgical footage and shared his personal experiences with the procedure. In addition, he discussed the features of a newly released inflatable pe**le prosthesis in Korea while highlighting differences compared to other existing products

[Dr. Park Hosts Inaugural Wilson Educational Foundation Pe**le Implant Fellowship]

From May 20th-22nd, the Wilson Education Foundation held its first-ever Inflatable Pe**le Implant Fellowship at Stand Up Prosthetic Urology in South Korea. Dr. Steven K. Wilson and his wife Barbara Wilson started this foundation in order to advance the field of prosthetic urology through ongoing support for medical education, academic initiatives, and international collaboration

The fellowship selected and brought together 3 young urologists, each representing the United States, Turkey, and Iraq to participate in an intensive 3-day program. On the first day, Dr. Wilson delivered a comprehensive lecture on the principles and procedures of inflatable pe**le implant surgery. The following 2 days featured live surgical demonstrations and lectures led by Dr. Park who is a board member of the foundation

This fellowship is a part of the Wilson Educational Foundation’s broader mission to train the next generation of pe**le implant surgeons and to promote the global development of pe**le prosthesis surgery, including in regions like the Middle East where interest is rapidly growing

As a member of the foundation’s board, Dr. Park will continue his efforts in surgical education and hands-on training, both in Korea and internationally

Recently, Uramix released a new surgical instrument called the "Morey-Mooresville Spacemaker Cavernotome". This cavernotome is particularly effective in complexed pe**le implant surgeries involving severe corporal fibrosis. To better illustrate its usage to urologists, Uramix published a surgical demonstration video by Dr. Park on their website

[Dr. Park Performs Live Surgery for Pe**le Implants at UKSH, Germany]

On April 7th–8th, the University Hospital Schleswig-Holstein (UKSH) held an advanced symposium on inflatable pe**le prosthesis surgery at the Lübeck campus in Germany. Dr. Osmonov, Professor and Head of the Department of Urology at UKSH, organized the symposium where he invited three international experts, including Dr. Park from South Korea, to speak at the event. In addition, urologists from Germany, neighboring European countries, and the Middle East attended

The symposium aimed to enhance participants' understanding of inflatable implant surgery through intensive lectures and live surgical demonstrations by each speaker. Dr. Park demonstrated inflatable pe**le implant surgery via a subcoronal approach on a patient who had previously undergone a radical prostatectomy. He also demonstrated local anesthesia for emergency patient who couldn't get general anesthesia due to his heart condition. During this visit, Dr. Park discussed further collaboration with Dr. Osmonov for upcoming IPP training events in Asia pacific region

[Dr. Faysal Yafi Visits Dr. Park & Stand Up Urology]

Dr. Faysal Yafi, Professor of Urology at the University of California, Irvine recently visited Stand Up Prosthetic Urology on March 27th to 28th. During his visit, he observed Dr. Park’s inflatable pe**le implant surgery and engaged in in-depth discussions

Dr. Yafi, who serves as the Director of the Men's Health Center at UC Irvine's Department of Urology, first began collaborating with Dr. Park in 2016 through co-authored papers on topics such as the Mini-Jupette technique for inflatable pe**le prosthesis and differences in surgical outcomes based on types of antibiotics used for pe**le implant coatings in diabetic patients. In 2018, Dr. Yafi visited Dr. Park’s practice, and in 2021, Dr. Park visited UC Irvine, where they discussed various urological conditions, including erectile dysfunction and benign prostatic hyperplasia

Through this recent visit, Dr. Park and Dr. Yafi not only deepened their academic exchange on inflatable implants and male health issues, but also agreed to co-author a new paper and collaborate on relevant research
