Ortho-K lenses (also known as "Night Lenses" or "Dream Lenses") are special rigid, gas-permeable contact lenses. They are worn only at night during sleep (6–8 hours).
While your child sleeps, the lens gently reshapes the cornea. In the morning, the lens is removed, and the cornea maintains its corrected shape, providing clear vision all day long without glasses or daytime lenses. The effect lasts until the next night.
Primary Benefits (for Children and Teens)
• Myopia Control (Nearsightedness): The key advantage—Ortho-K lenses are proven to slow down the progression of myopia in children and adolescents. This is not just correction; it is a therapeutic method.
• Freedom during the day: Provides complete freedom from glasses, which is ideal for active children (sports, swimming).
• Alternative to Laser Surgery: It is the only effective alternative for patients for whom laser correction (LASIK) is contraindicated due to age (typically under 18).
However, you can only start using Ortho-K lenses after a thorough diagnostic examination and individual fitting by a qualified ophthalmologist. And remember: strict hygiene and parental supervision of lens cleanliness are the key to successful and safe use.
