This is a Dr.George Coukos and Dr.Lana Kandalaft's TED Lecture. They are members of the University of Lausanne Hospital (CHUV), which is conducting research and clinical studies with immunotherpay. This lecture discusses that T cells from autologous tumors are used as a immunotherapy treatment.

The patient is diagnosed with GYN cancer and Dr. Barter proceeds with a laparoscopy or robotic surgery, very minimally invasive. He takes tumor out and we preserve it live and the preservation is done in the operation room. It was sent to our pathology and they packed it up and then they sent to our storage areas.

의료진은 환자에게서 종양세포를 채취합니다. 채취된 종양세포는 유전자분석에 사용됩니다.
의료진은 종양세포에서 DNA를 추출하여 정상세포 DNA와의 비교분석 과정을 통해 어떠한 변이가 발생했는지 확인합니다. 그 후, 변이가 발생된 DNA 중 신생항원을 만들어내는 정보를 갖고 있는 세포를 식별합니다. 의료진은 약 20개의 신생항원을 선별한 후 이들의 DNA 일부, 또는 완전한 항원을 백신제조에 사용합니다.
환자들은 약 3-5회에 걸쳐 백신을 투여 받습니다. 환자의 몸 안으로 주입된 물질은 면역체계를 자극하여 특정 항원을 보유하고 있는 악성세포를 파괴할 수 있도록 합니다. 시간이 지남에 따라 면역세포가 종양을 조금씩 제거하여 종양의 크기 또한 작아지게 됩니다. 가장 이상적인 결과는 면역세포가 종양을 완전히 제거하여 환자가 완치되는 것입니다.
