Tips for maintaining your glasses

Do’s :

Always ensure your lenses and frames are clean. It is recommended that you use only an approved optical lens along with a cleaning cloth for maintenance.
Clean your lenses by dipping them into warm, soapy water and then rinsing them under running water. To dry them gently pat them with a lens cloth.
Always wet your lenses when you clean them. Wiping dry lenses may cause scratches.
Always use both your hands to take your spectacles off. Remove them by applying pressure on both the earpieces.

Don’ts :

Never leave your spectacles with the glasses facing down. Keep them in a spectacle case when you are not wearing them.
Avoid your glasses from getting in contact with acetone perfume, hair spray, and cleaning solutions of any kind.

Eye Examination

Our optometrists will carry out the comprehensive eye examination. An inquiry into your general health, medications taken, family health and eye history is quite normal and essential as many factors can affect your eyes. Your prescription will then be determined based on the eye examination data which has been entered into the computerized testing unit also known as Phoropter.

Measurement of vision.
Accurate prescription for glasses / contact lenses.
Assessment of binocular vision or eye coordination.
Assessment of eye health (screening for cataract, glaucoma, mucular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and other eye diseases).

At the end of the consultation, your optometrist will discuss your eye sight and eye health with you as well as all the options available if glasses or contact lenses are required.

Caring for your eyes

Our eyes and vision change over time, so it’s advisable to have regular eye examinations.
Protect your eyes from glare and UV.
Long term exposure to ultraviolet radiation could increase the risk of cataracts.
Good vision is imperative for safety when driving. Ensure that you use glasses with the correct prescription while driving.
Follow 20-20-20 Rule while viewing a computer screen.
Use protective eye wear for sports or for jobs where you are exposed to flying particles or toxic liquids.
Eat healthy diet
Do not share eye make-up. You could catch an eye infection.
