🌼 Happy International Kindness Day 🌼

Today is a reminder that even the smallest acts of kindness can have a powerful impact on our mental and emotional well-being.

At our practice, we see every day how compassion—toward others and ourselves—creates space for healing, connection, and resilience. 💛

Take a moment today to check in on someone, offer a gentle word, or extend kindness inward. You never know whose day you’ll brighten.

Thursday is World Kindness Day.

From fact-checking and supporting vulnerable communities to spreading messages of tolerance, there are many ways we can counter hate speech through the power of kindness.

Together, we can say no to hate and create safe, inclusive spaces that uphold human rights, diversity and respect for all.

Kindness is our shared responsibility.

We Could not agree more.

“Some argue that accommodations level the playing field. We agree — when they’re done right. For example, a student with a reading disorder may need extra time to read written material. Crucially, this extra time doesn’t worsen the reading disorder; it allows the student to demonstrate their knowledge despite their disability. Anxiety is different. An accommodation built on avoidance doesn’t help a student perform despite their anxiety; it exacerbates the anxiety itself. It’s the equivalent of telling a student with a reading disorder to simply stop reading.”

According to Dr. Shannon Seymour, who works with families and children with anxiety based mental health problems such as Generalized Anxiety Disorder, OCD, Seperation Anxiety, School Refusal and ARFID, “I see how quickly children can recover when parents are equipped and guided to know the difference between support for their children’s suffering and accommodation for their child’s anxiety.

Removing stressors robs students of growth opportunities, writes TC's Ben Lovett and his co-author Alex Jordan

🌟SPEAKER HIGHLIGHT🌟

The 16th Annual Healthcare Conference is delighted to have Dr. Karyna Davis-Irons from Cayman Islands Health Services Authority (HSA) presenting on "Unseen Wounds: The Ethical Dimensions of Moral Injury in Health Care Providers".

Our theme for the conference is 'A Call to Action for Sustainable Healthcare' and sustainable healthcare requires healthy caregivers. Morally wounded health care providers threaten sustainability.

Dr. Davis-Irons is a highly accomplished consultant anaesthetist at HSA. With a rich background in the hospital and healthcare industry, she has gone beyond anesthesiology to excel in intensive care and pain management. Driven by patient-centred care, she blends clinical expertise with compassion and unwavering ethical principles.

Dr. Davis-Irons’ formal education in medical law and ethics equips her to analyse, interpret and apply laws regulating the provision of healthcare with a particular regard to ethical perspectives. At HSA, Dr. Davis-Irons sets an exceptional standard, prioritising not only medical excellence but also empathetic patient interactions. Her holistic approach to healthcare embodies her dedication to both medical and ethical integrity, showcasing her as a guiding light in the field and contributing significantly to healthcare enhancement in the Cayman Islands.

Dr. Davis-Irons will be speaking at the conference on Friday, 24 October. You can find out more information about the conference here - https://www.healthcareconference.ky/

🎉 Professional Growth in Action! 🎉

This week, our Developmental Support Services (DSS) team attended the Caribbean Association for Behaviour Analysis 2-day Practical Functional Assessment (PFA) and Skills-Based Treatment (SBT) training — also known as First Things First (FTF) — with Dr. Greg Hanley!

The training deepened our understanding of compassionate, evidence-based approaches to reducing challenging behavior and teaching meaningful, functional skills. đź’ˇ

We are proud to sponsor this important event and so proud of our therapists for their dedication to continuous learning and commitment to creating safe, joyful, and empowering experiences for every child and family we support. đź’™

Here’s to applying what we’ve learned and continuing to grow together as a team! 🌱
