Perfect for parents and nannies. If you care for young children and want to support their independence, confidence, and readiness for school, this session is for you.
Fine motor skills are essential for everyday life skills such as feeding, dressing, drawing, writing, and play. Strong hand skills support success both at home and in the classroom.
This practical, hands-on workshop will help parents and nannies understand how fine motor skills develop and how to support them through simple activities built into daily routines. No special equipment is required.
What parents and nannies will learn:
• How fine motor skills develop from infancy through the early school years
• Key building blocks including strength, coordination, bilateral skills, and hand dominance
• Common signs that a child may be struggling with fine motor skills
• How posture, core strength, and sensory input support hand skills
• The connection between fine motor skills, self-care, and school readiness
Practical strategies for home and daily care:
• Play-based activities using everyday household items
• Easy ways to build hand strength, coordination, and endurance
• Fine motor support during mealtimes, play, dressing, and daily routines
• How to adapt activities for different ages and abilities
• How parents and nannies can encourage independence without pressure
You will leave with:
• A clear understanding of fine motor development milestones
• Simple strategies you can use immediately
• Increased confidence in supporting children’s independence
• Tools to turn everyday routines into opportunities for learning and growth
