𝗦𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗲 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴

Vientiane – On February 3, 2026, the Agriculture for Nutrition Project Phase 2 convened its steering committee meeting at Souphattra Hotel in Vientiane to review 2025 achievements and approve the 2026 annual work plan.
The meeting was co-chaired by Dr. Chanthakone Boualaphan, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment, along with provincial vice chairmen: Mr. Khamseng Aly (Oudomxay Province), Dr. Phosy Keosiphandone (Saravan Province), Mr. Bounthavy Nakhonsith (Sekong Province), and Mr. Silay Sisawengsouk (Attapeu Province). Also in attendance were deputy heads of offices, departments, institutions, provincial departments of agriculture and environment, and representatives from relevant sectors.
𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄
Mr. Sisovath Phandanouvong, Central-Level Coordinator for the Agriculture for Nutrition Project Phase 2, presented the meeting objectives: to evaluate the project's implementation over the past year, identify strengths and weaknesses, address challenges in a timely manner, and approve the 2026 annual budget and work plan.
The project aims to improve food security and nutrition for 28,000 disadvantaged households in target areas, promote climate-smart agriculture, and increase household incomes by 2030.
𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲: Six provinces, 20 districts, and 500 villages:
• Phongsaly Province: 5 districts
• Oudomxay Province: 4 districts
• Xiengkhouang Province: 2 districts
• Sekong Province: 3 districts
• Saravan Province: 3 districts
• Attapeu Province: 3 districts
𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗱: 2023-2030 (7 years)
𝗙𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲
𝗧𝗼𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝘀𝘁: 𝗨𝗦$𝟰𝟴.𝟯𝟰 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻
𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗙𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 (𝗨𝗦$𝟰𝟬 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 - 𝟴𝟯%):
• Global Agriculture and Food Security Program (GAFSP) grant: US$20 million (41%)
- US$12 million through International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD)
- US$8 million through World Food Programme (WFP)
• International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) loan: US$20 million (41%)
𝗟𝗮𝗼 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗯𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗨𝗦$𝟴.𝟯𝟳 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 - 𝟭𝟳%):
• Government co-financing: US$4.8 million (10%)
• Beneficiary contributions: US$2.13 million (4.4%)
• Private sector capital: US$1.44 million (3%)

In closing, the Chair urged all participants to fulfill their responsibilities, engage thoughtfully, and provide honest feedback to ensure successful project implementation. He emphasized the importance of reviewing and improving techniques used in each locality to enhance effectiveness and address challenges.
