It is with profound sorrow and deep reverence that we announce the passing of Dr. Adnan Mroueh, a towering figure in medicine, a devoted public servant, and above all, a profoundly humane man. Dr. Mroueh was an exceptional physician, dedicated educator, father, grandfather, and beloved mentor, brother to our company’s late founder – Dr. Ali Mroueh, and uncle to our CEO – Walid Mroueh.
Dr. Adnan Mroueh was the “silent strength”. His extraordinary professional and personal life was a testament to compassion in practice. He has left an indelible mark on Lebanon, on the countless families he helped, and on the many generations of physicians he trained.
For more than six decades, through Lebanon’s war and peace times, he devoted himself to the advancement of women’s health and reproductive medicine, academic excellence, and public service.
In May 2022, American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC) honored him for “50 years of dedication” to the field, celebrating his legacy as “the father, the physician, and the mentor.”
Throughout his distinguished career, Dr. Mroueh:
Graduated MD from American University of Beirut in 1961 and completed his OB-GYN training by 1964; he then undertook further specialization in the United States — including fellowships at UCLA and Yale University, before joining the faculty of AUB in 1968.
Served as a consultant for maternal and family planning programs in the region, including early-1970s work with the World Health Organization (WHO) in Iraq.
Held key leadership positions: in 1982, during critical war times in Lebanon, he was appointed as Minister of Health, Labour and Social Affairs for Lebanon; later he served as Vice-President for Health Affairs at AUB, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, and for many years as Chair of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology.
Provided compassionate care to generations of patients and families, offered mentorship and guidance to students and colleagues, and championed ethical medical practice and women’s health with conviction and humility.
With Dr. Mroueh’s passing, we have lost not just a doctor or leader, but a generous spirit whose legacy will endure in the lives he healed, the minds he nurtured, and the hearts he touched.
His passing marks the end of an era, yet Dr. Mroueh’s legacy of excellence, humanity, and service will continue to inspire all of us.

ببالغ الأسى وبعميق الإجلال ننعى رحيل الدكتور عدنان مروّة، إحدى القامات الطبية البارزة، والخادم العام المخلص، والإنسان العظيم قبل كل شيء. فقد كان طبيباً استثنائياً، ومربّياً مخلصاً، وأباً وجداً وقدوةً محبوبة؛ كما كان شقيقاً لمؤسس شركتنا الراحل الدكتور علي مروّة، وعمّاً لمديرنا التنفيذي الدكتور وليد مروّة.
لقد كان الدكتور مروّة «القوة الصامتة». فجسّد في مسيرته المهنية والشخصية نموذج الرحمة في العمل، وترك بصمة لا تُمحى على لبنان والمنطقة، وعلى آلاف العائلات التي رافقها، وعلى الأجيال المتعاقبة من الأطباء الذين درّبهم ووجّههم.
على مدى أكثر من ستة عقود، وفي زمنَي الحرب والسلم في لبنان، كرّس حياته للنهوض بصحة المرأة والطب التناسلي، وللارتقاء بالعمل الأكاديمي، ولخدمة الشأن العام. وفي أيار 2022، كرّمه المركز الطبي في الجامعة الأميركية في بيروت (AUBMC) تقديراً لـ «50 عاماً من العطاء»، محتفياً بإرثه كـ«الأب، والطبيب، والمرشد».
وخلال مسيرته المميّزة:
• نال شهادة الطب من الجامعة الأميركية في بيروت عام 1961، وأكمل تخصّصه في طب النساء والتوليد عام 1964؛ ثم تابع تخصّصاته العليا في الولايات المتحدة، بما في ذلك زمالات تدريبية في جامعتي UCLA وYale، قبل أن ينضم إلى هيئة التدريس في الجامعة الأميركية عام 1968.
• خدم مستشاراً لبرامج الأمومة وتنظيم الأسرة في المنطقة، بما في ذلك عمله مع منظمة الصحة العالمية (WHO) في العراق في أوائل السبعينيات.
• تولّى مناصب قيادية محورية، إذ عُيّن عام 1982، في زمن من أشدّ فترات الحرب، وزيراً للصحة والعمل والشؤون الاجتماعية في لبنان؛ كما شغل لاحقاً منصب نائب رئيس الجامعة الأميركية للشؤون الصحية، وعميد كلية الطب، ورئيس قسم النساء والتوليد لسنوات طويلة.
• قدّم رعاية إنسانية لآلاف المرضى والعائلات، ومنح طلابه وزملاءه الإرشاد والدعم، ودافع عن أخلاقيات الممارسة الطبية وصحة المرأة بكل تواضع وثبات.
برحيل الدكتور مروّة، نفقد ليس فقط طبيباً أو قائداً، بل نفقد روحاً كريمة سيبقى أثرها خالداً في حياة من شفاهم، وفي عقول من علّمهم، وفي قلوب من لمسهم بإنسانيته.
يُشكّل غيابه نهاية مرحلة، غير أن إرثه في التميّز والإنسانية والخدمة سيظلّ مصدر إلهام لنا جميعاً.
وباسم أسرة Mersaco، نتقدّم بأحرّ التعازي إلى عائلة مروّة، وإلى زملائه وطلابه ومرضاه، وإلى كل من كان لمسيرة حياته وقعٌ في نفسه.
