Rapid and effective pain control is our first priority in patients admitted to the emergency room for renal colic:

- Water restriction

- Non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs: please check the creatinine level first.

- Opioid analgesics (morphine)

- Alpha blockers: helps the passage of kidney stones (depends on the size and the location of the stone)

- Antispasmodic drugs: no additional efficacy
