SANAD is an independent non-governmental non-profit organization established in January 2010 in an effort to provide dignity and quality of life to terminally-ill patients and their families and the last and most precious times of their lives. Our focus is on the preservation of dignity and relief of suffering in patients with terminal illness in order to maintain the best possible quality of life. We strive to empower patients and their families to become skilled in their own care and allow them to make informed choices that are in line with their values and beliefs. We aim to provide holistic care to address the medical, psychological and social needs of patients and their caregivers. This includes management of pain and other symptoms as well as treatment of medical complications. These services are delivered to patients regardless of nationality, religion, political affiliation, gender, diagnosis or ability to pay. SANAD is committed to researching and addressing policy challenges related to the provision of palliative care. In order to advance its mission, SANAD will also focus on advocating for the removal of existing barriers within the health care system that may affect the ability of individuals to access palliative care. In parallel, SANAD will also undertake extensive awareness raising activities at the levels of the community and the medical and nursing professions to facilitate a better understanding of the issues and the concepts behind hospice and palliative care in Lebanon. نثمّن كلمة معالي وزير الصحة العامة الدكتور راكان ناصرالدين خلال الفعالية التي أقيمت في وزارة الصحة بمناسبة اليوم العالمي للسرطان، حيث شدّد على أهمية الرعاية التلطيفية كخيار إنساني ومستدام اقتصاديًا، وعلى العمل المشترك مع وزارة الاقتصاد لتأمين تغطية شركات التأمين لهذه الخدمة، بما يضمن وصولها إلى شريحة أوسع من المرضى.

نقدّر هذا التوجّه الوطني الذي يضع كرامة المريض وجودة حياته في صلب السياسات الصحية، ونتطلع إلى مواصلة التعاون لترسيخ الرعاية التلطيفية كحق أساسي لكل من يحتاجها في لبنان.

SANAD, hosted by the Michel Daher Social Foundation, gave an awareness session focused on palliative care and its vital role in improving patients’ quality of life while supporting them and their families.

The session introduced participants to the concept of palliative care and highlighted the comprehensive services provided by SANAD, including free of charge medical, nursing, psychological, and psychosocial support, as well as the groups that can benefit from these services.

The discussion was enriched by active engagement from attendees, whose questions and interactions underscored the growing need for palliative care awareness within the community.

Despite the diagnosis, we at SANAD ensure the experience is one of comfort, dignity, and compassionate care.
We support people living with advanced cancer and chronic illnesses at the end of life.

We focus on relieving pain,
managing symptoms,
and providing psychosocial support,
to ensure patients can remain at home, surrounded by their loved ones, with comfort and dignity.

حملة سند للتوعية بالأمراض المزمنة، بما في ذلك السرطانية وغير السرطانية، وأهمية دور الرعاية التلطيفية في المرحلة المتقدمة من للمرض، لتحسين جودة الحياة في مختلف مراحله.

الفشل الرئوي المتقدّم هو نوع من الأمراض المزمنة التي تؤثر على نوعية الحياة, وللرعاية التلطيفية دور مهم في تحسين العوارض الناتجة عن هذا المرض.

عن الإجتماعات العائلية | قصة نوال

نشارككم حكايات حقيقية من قلب يومياتنا مع المرضى وعائلاتهم، نرويها بموافقتهم لتسليط الضوء على منهجية الرعاية التلطيفية.

حكاية مريضتنا نوال، رحمها الله، هي عن الإجتماعات العائلية في الرعاية التلطيفية.

منهجية الاجتماعات العائلية في القصة تتجلّى في كيفية مرافقة نوال وعائلتها خلال مرحلة مفصلية، بين التمسك بالأمل والخوف من الفقد، وبين رغبة نوال في التوقف عن العلاج والبحث عن الراحة والسلام.
من خلال هذا اللقاء، أُتيح لكل فرد أن يعبّر عمّا يشعر به، وأن تُطرح الحقائق الطبية بوضوح وتعاطف، ليتمكّن الجميع من الوصول إلى فهم مشترك وأهداف رعاية موحّدة.

هذه القصة تبرز أن الاجتماعات العائلية ليست مجرد جلسات طبية، بل هي مساحة إنسانية تُنظّم الحوار، وتخفّف العبء النفسي، وتدعم اتخاذ قرارات مشتركة تحترم رغبة المريض وتحتضن مشاعر العائلة، لتُمهّد الطريق لوداع يليق بالحب، والكرامة، والسلام.

عن الرعاية التلطيفية:
في حين أن الرعاية التلطيفية تبدأ من لحظة التشخيص، فإن مهمة سند تتركز على المرحلة التي يصبح فيها المريض في نهاية رحلته مع مرض مزمن أو مستعص، حيث نقدم له ولعائلته الدعم الطبي والتمريضي والنفسي في المنزل، دون أي مقابل، لضمان كرامته وراحته في الأشهر والأيام الأخيرة.
