Embrace

Embrace is a non-profit organization (NGO) which works to raise awareness around mental health in Lebanon and the Middle East.

A Lebanese NGO dedicated to Mental Health in Lebanon with a mission to raise awareness and provide direct support to the community via the 1564 National Lifeline and the Embrace Mental Health Center - 01346226 Embrace launched as an affiliation with the Department of Psychiatry at the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC) back in 2013. As of August 2017, Embrace became an official registered NGO in Lebanon. It is a one of a kind charitable and fundraising initiative for mental illnesses. Embrace seeks to inform and support people who need help by dispelling the myths and misinformation that surround mental illness. Embrace provides information about the resources available to people who live in Lebanon. Embrace also raises money to help provide needed treatment and care for people who cannot afford it. In September 2017, Embrace launched the first national suicide prevention helpline in Lebanon.

سعدنا اليوم باستضافة سعادة النائب وضاح الصادق الذي قام بزيارة إلى مركز خط الحياة الوطني 1564 للدعم النفسي والوقاية من الانتحار، والذي يُدار بالتعاون بين البرنامج الوطني للصحة النفسية وجمعية إمبرايس.

خلال الزيارة، اطّلع سعادته على سير العمل في المركز، واستمع إلى شرح مفصّل حول آلية استقبال الاتصالات وتقديم الدعم النفسي عبر خط الحياة الوطني 1564.

وأثنى سعادته على الجهود الكبيرة التي يبذلها فريق خط الحياة الوطني والمتطوعون، مشيدًا بخدمة طوارئ الصحة النفسية التي تغطي حاليًا مناطق بيروت وطرابلس وصور، ودورها الحيوي في إنقاذ الأرواح وتعزيز الوعي المجتمعي حول أهمية الصحة النفسية.

كما تناول النقاش مع سعادته ضرورة أن يصبح خط الحياة الوطني 1564 خدمة مجانية ومتاحة للجميع، مثنيًا على هذه الخطوة لما لها من أثر مباشر في تسهيل وصول الدعم النفسي لكل من يحتاجه.

📍 بيروت: نظمت جمعية إمبرايس جلسة توعية حول الوقاية من الانتحار في Living Room Coffee Shop، حيث وفّر المكان مساحة آمنة ومفتوحة للنقاش بين المشاركين. تضمنت الجلسة التعريف بخط الحياة الوطني للدعم النفسي 1564، بالإضافة إلى تعلم مهارات الدعم النفسي والتعامل مع ضغوط الحياة اليومية.
حضر الجلسة حوالي 22 شخصاً بالغاً، من الرجال والنساء.

تم تنفيذ هذا العمل من قبل جمعية إمبرايس، بالتنسيق مع لجنة الإنقاذ الدولية (IRC) وذلك بدعم من الصندوق الإثتماني متعدد المانحين لحالات النزوح القسري الذي يديره البنك الدولي، وشراكة بروسبكتس "PROSPECTS" المدعومة من مملكة هولندا.

📍 Beirut: Embrace conducted a su***de awareness session at Living Room Coffee shop in Beirut where it was an open space, introducing the National Lifeline1564, and learning psychological support skills and coping with daily stress.
The session was attended by approximately 22 adults, male and females.

This work was implemented by Embrace NGO, in coordination with the International Rescue Committee (IRC). It is made possible by the World Bank administered Multi Donor Trust Fund for Forced Displacement and the PROSPECTS Partnership, supported by the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

سعدنا اليوم باستقبال سعادة النائب الدكتورة عناية عزّالدين في زيارة لمركز خط الحياة الوطني 1564 للدعم النفسي والوقاية من الانتحار، بالتعاون بين البرنامج الوطني للصحة النفسية وجمعية إمبرايس، حيث شاركنا مع سعادتها مستجدّات توسيع آلية الاستجابة الوطنية للطوارئ النفسية (فريق التدخّل الميداني الذي يغطي بيروت وطرابلس وصور) في جنوب لبنان (صور ومحيطها).
كما تناول النقاش أولويات مشتركة، من تعزيز التوعية بالخطّ الوطني 1564 وفريق التدخّل في الجنوب، إلى الدفع بسياسات وتشريعات تُسهِّل وصول الناس إلى خدمات الصحة النفسية في لبنان بكلفة ميسورة.
نحو تعاونٍ مستمرّ مع الدكتورة عزّالدين لتعزيز الوصول إلى خدمات رعاية نفسية نوعية ومنصفة على كافة الأراضي اللبنانية.

We were honored to welcome H.E. Dr. Inaya Ezzedine, Member of Parliament, to the National Lifeline today.
During the visit, we presented the work of the National Lifeline 1564 for Emotional Support and Su***de Prevention, in collaboration between the National Mental Health Programme (NMHP) and Embrace, and shared updates on the expansion of the National Mental Health Emergency Response Mechanism (Mobile Crisis Team covering Beirut, Tripoli and Tyre) in South Lebanon (Tyre and surrounding areas).
Our discussion covered several priorities: amplifying public awareness of Lifeline 1564 and the Mobile Crisis Team in the South, and advancing policies and legislation that make it easier and more affordable for people in Lebanon to access mental health care.
Together with Dr. Ezzedine, we remain committed to strengthening help-seeking and ensuring equitable access to mental health services all over Lebanon.

التدريب الوطني الثامن والعشرين لمتطوّعي الخط الوطني للدعم النفسي والوقاية من الانتحار:
الأسبوع الماضي، خلّصنا تدريب جديد مع الدفعة الثامنة والعشرين من متطوّعي خط الحياة الوطني. وبإشراف خبرائنا بالصحة النفسية، صاروا هلّق جاهزين يقدّموا الدعم عبر الخط ١٥٦٤، ويكفّوا رسالة الأمل والرعاية والخدمة يلي بتنقذ حياة كتير من الناس.
تم تنفيذ هذا النشاط من قبل جمعية إمبرايس بالتعاون مع البرنامج الوطني للصحة النفسية، بالتنسيق مع لجنة الإنقاذ الدولية (IRC) وذلك بدعم من الصندوق الائتماني متعدد المانحين لحالات النزوح القسري الذي يديره البنك الدولي، وشراكة بروسبكتس " PROSPECTS ". تجمع "بروسبكتس" بين البنك الدولي، ومؤسسة التمويل الدولية، ومنظمة العمل الدولية، والمفوضية السامية للأمم المتحدة لشؤون اللاجئين، ومنظمة اليونيسف، لمعالجة تحديات النزوح القسري، وهي مدعومة من مملكة هولندا.
28th National Lifeline Training:
Last week, we wrapped up yet another training journey with our 28th batch of Lifeline operators. Under the guidance of our mental health professionals, this group is now equipped to offer critical support through 1564, helping us extend hope, care, and life-saving services to those who need it most.
This work is implemented by Embrace NGO in collaboration with the National Mental Health Programme, in coordination with the International Rescue Committee (IRC). It is made possible by the World Bank administered Multi Donor Trust Fund for Forced Displacement and the PROSPECTS Partnership. PROSPECTS brings together the World Bank, IFC, ILO, UNHCR, and UNICEF to address the challenges of forced displacement and is supported by the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
