Being active makes your body more sensitive to insulin (the hormone that allows cells in your body to use blood sugar for energy)… which helps manage your diabetes better 🤗

Physical activity also helps control blood sugar levels and lowers your risk of heart disease and nerve damage 🏋🏽🤾🏽‍♀️🤸🏽‍♀️

We recommend atleast 30 minutes of exercise and 15 minutes of walking every day 👆🏽

Diabetes can cause problems during pregnancy for women and their developing babies. 👩🏽‍🍼Poor control of diabetes during pregnancy increases the chances of problems for the baby and can cause serious complications for the woman. 🤰🏽

💡Here are some tips to follow:

🔹Eat 3 meals and 2–3 snacks per day. Eating too much at one time can cause your blood sugar to go too high. Eat smaller meals and have snacks

🔹Regularly monitor your Blood Sugar and Blood Pressure

🔹Have regular doctor visits and check-ups throughout the pregnancy

🔹Stay Active

🔹Take medication as prescribed.

Planning ahead for pregnancy with your doctor if you have Diabetes is the best way to go to ensure a healthy pregnancy.

Diabetes type 1 and type 2 come from different causes 👩🏽‍⚕️

Type 1 diabetes occurs when the pancreas is unable to produce insulin.

Type 2 diabetes occurs when the pancreas does not produce enough insulin or when the body does not effectively use the insulin that is produced..

NB: ❗️Insulin helps blood sugar enter the cells in your body for use as energy. Without insulin, blood sugar can't get into cells and builds up in the bloodstream.

▫️If you have type 1 diabetes, you'll need to use insulin to treat your diabetes. 💉
▫️If you have Type 2 diabetes, you may have to use insulin or tablets, though you might initially be able to treat your diabetes by eating well and moving more.

Hope this helps in understanding the two type of diabetes 🤗
