TIRE SIDEWALL CHECK ⚠️🛞

this is what we're looking for on every bike that comes in.

tire sidewalls crack. it happens. UV exposure, age, humidity, constant flexing. in our climate with intense sun and salt air, tires deteriorate faster than you'd think. but here's the critical thing - a cracked sidewall isn't just cosmetic. it's a safety issue.

here's the physics: the sidewall is the structural support of the tire. when it cracks, the tire loses integrity. the rubber can't hold the pressure properly. you could get a blowout at speed. imagine that happening on a downhill or in traffic. not fun. not safe.

this is why we check tires on every service. we look for:
>>> cracks in the sidewall (like this one)
>>> bulges or blisters (sign of internal damage)
>>> worn tread depth (less grip = less control)
>>> cuts or punctures (obvious damage)

sometimes the problem isn't what you think it is.

this shifter boot is DONE. completely cracked and deteriorating. and here's what most riders don't realize: ignoring this is expensive.

here's the scenario: water gets inside the shifter through the cracks. corrodes the internals. suddenly your shifting is sluggish or dead. now you need a $200 shifter replacement instead of a $20 boot.

shifter boots fail because of:

CHAIN WEAR 101: WHY IT MATTERS 🔗🔍

this little blue tool is called a CC-2 chain checker. and honestly? it's one of the most important tools in our workshop.

here's the reality: chains wear out. it's not a question of IF, it's WHEN. and in our island climate - humidity, salt air, monsoons - rust accelerates everything. a worn chain doesn't just skip gears. it destroys your cassette. it destroys your chainring. suddenly that $50 chain replacement becomes a $500 problem.

we check chain wear on EVERY service. catching it early saves you money. more importantly, it keeps you safe. a broken chain on the road at speed? that's dangerous.

yeah, your bike came "pre-assembled" from the factory. but that doesn't mean it's ready to ride. headset needs dialing in, brakes need bleeding, drivetrain needs tuning, wheels need truing. little things that make a HUGE difference.

this is what proper assembly looks like - everything torqued to spec, tested, and ready to perform. your bike deserves that level of care before it hits the road.

RIM TAPE SLIPPING = FLAT TIRE INCOMING 🚨

see this? rim tape that's not centered exposes spoke holes. your tube pushes through, gets pinched, and BAM - you're stranded on the side of the road with a flat.

this is a common problem people ignore until it's too late. rim tape needs to be perfectly centered to protect your tube from the sharp spoke ends. if it slides, your ride is done.

bring your wheels in for a full inspection. we'll re-tape them properly and make sure your rims are dialed in. don't let a simple fix turn into a roadside disaster 💪
