A F Raymond (AFR) is Sri Lanka's and the region's oldest firm of Funeral Directors.

A F Raymond's was registered as a business in 1885, the Raymond family had been in Sri Lanka since the 17th century. Their family history can be traced back to a Dutch mercenary who fought during the many great wars at that time & then later settled down in Sri Lanka. The Founder AF Raymond won a tender to bury corpses from the infectious dieses hospital & mental asylum in Colombo. Leslie Lionel Raymond was the first from South-East Asia to qualify as a Member of the British Institute of Embalmers in 1935

Francis.

Remains lie at A. F. Raymond funeral parlour on Tuesday, the 7th from 12 noon onwards. Funeral service will be held on the 8th at 3:30 p.m. followed by burial at 4:00 p.m. at the General Cemetery, Borella (R.C. Section).

Darling grandmother of Anjalie, Annika and Sam, Loving daughter of Hyacinth (U.K) and of Late Arunachelam Mahedrarajah, daughter in law of Late Joe (JLB) and Mildred Perera, Sister of Late Niranjan, Nirmaline, Jeevani, Kumudini (Australia), Cecil (Australia), Shakila (Holland), Sharmila, Yohan (U.S.A), Roshan (U.S.A), Shemaine (U.K) and Anju (U.K). Expired peacefully on 22nd September 2025.

Viewing at A. F. Raymond’s Funeral Parlour on Tuesday 23rd September, from 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., and Wednesday, the 24th, from 9:30 a.m. onwards. Cortege leaves parlour on the same day at 4:00 p.m. for cremation at 4:30 p.m. at General Cemetery, Borella (New crematorium)

Beloved wife of late Shelton, loving daughter of late Sir Philip and late Lady Marianne Rodrigo, beloved mother of Cheryl Cooray (former Deputy Principal of Bishop's College), late Charmaine, Chanis Boisard (France), and Dr. Shyami Puvimanasinghe (UNHRC, Geneva), mother-in-law of Dr. Lakshman Cooray, Alex Boisard, and Dr. Ashok Puvimanasinghe (Geneva), precious grandmother of Shanaka, Madhuka, Dharshan, Althea, Lakmini, Amadhya, and Apeksha, cherished great-grandmother of Devinka, Jayan, Shevin, Arlen, Alma, and Avelyn, ever-loving sister of late Daisybelle, late Noeline, Cynthia, Shirla, and Myrna, passed away peacefully on 18th September 2025.

Cortege will lie at A.F. Raymond's Funeral Parlour, Borella, from 9.00 a.m. on Friday, 19th September onwards.

A prayer service will be held at the parlour at 4:00 p.m., followed by the funeral at the Borella Kanatte, Old Crematorium, at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, 20th September.

Passed away peacefully in Melbourne, Australia on 10 September 2025.

Dearly loved husband of Samantha and father of Jai. Loving son of Frances and of the late Patrick Mutthumani.
Brother of Jeremy and David. Son-in-law of Cleonie and the late Nimal Maralande.
His ashes will be interned in Sri Lanka. Details to be provided at a later date.

Fernando – Rosemarie (née Victoria) loving wife of Eric, cherished mother of Malaika and Nirmal Pieris, devoted grandmother of Natalya, Johann and Eran, dear sister of Therese (late), Francis (late), Gerard, Patricia, Yvonne, Sandra, Rex, Yasmin, and Fatima, loving sister-in-law of Josephine, Christobel, and Lawrence, has gone to be with the Lord Jesus, her Maker and Saviour. Her remains lie at 283/1, Lumbini Place, Off Hokandara Road, Thalawathugoda.

The Funeral service will be held at the residence on the 10th of September at 3:00 p.m. Cortege leaves residence at 3:30 p.m. for burial at 4:30 p.m. at the General Cemetery, Borella (Anglican Section)

Beloved husband of Shanti, loving father of Alaka (Julie) and adored grandfather of Anika. He was the cherished son of the late Roland and Girlie Jayasekara and dear brother of Ranmal (Anoma) Jayasekara.

His remains will lie at A.F. Raymond funeral parlour to pay final respects on Tuesday 2nd September from 9am followed by a blessing at 2pm and cremation at the new crematorium, Borella, at 3:30 p.m.

Her remains lie at the A. F. Raymond Funeral Parlour, Borella on Tuesday the 26th of August from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and on Wednesday the 27th of August from 9:00 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. followed by Cremation at 4:30 p.m. at the New Crematorium, General Cemetery – Borella.

The body will be kept for viewing on Monday, 18th August, from 8.00 a.m. to 10.00 p.m. at the Little Sisters of the Poor Convent, Maradana, and Holy Mass at 8.30 p.m. On Tuesday, 19th August, the body will be taken to Christ King College, Pannipitiya, at 9:30 a.m., and the Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 3:30 p.m. at Christ King Church, Pannipitiya, after which the burial will take place at the Christ King Church Catholic Cemetery, Pannipitiya.
