AHK Sri Lanka had the pleasure of hosting its final HR Sector Committee Meeting of 2025, in cooperation with Allianz Insurance Lanka Limited.

The session featured an engaging discussion on “Leading with Care”, highlighting the power of micro-behaviours and the role they play in fostering psychologically safe and inclusive workplace cultures.

One key takeaway was the importance of self-awareness. How often do we consciously reflect on how our facial expressions or gestures impact others? Or take the time to openly discuss emotions in the workplace? This session encouraged exactly that—leaving participants feeling more aware, connected, and engaged.

👋 Meet Our New Legal Trainee – Demi Pröpper

Demi joins us from Cologne, where she completed her legal studies with a special focus on international law.

Before joining AHK Sri Lanka, Demi gained practical experience as a Trainee at the Employment Court and at an international law firm.

During her time at the firm, her team contributed to the Annual Global Reports of the IBA’s Global Employment Institute. Through this work, she analysed labour market dynamics and legal developments across various jurisdictions. These experiences enable her to offer valuable comparative insights into global labour market trends within our organisation.

Her decision to pursue part of her legal traineeship in Sri Lanka was inspired by her studies, during which she completed a Certificate in United States Law. This sparked her curiosity for exploring different legal cultures and broadened her interest in international legal systems. Recognizing Sri Lanka’s evolving legal and commercial landscape driven by expanding business opportunities, she saw the country as the ideal environment to deepen her understanding of law in a global context.

The delegation, including leaders from Dimo Lifelines, Hayleys Lifesciences, Technomedics, A J Medichem International, and Hemas Hospitals, engaged with German authorities, industry leaders, and healthcare innovators, gaining valuable insights into global trends, regulatory standards, and advanced hospital operations.

Last week, we concluded an intensive and insightful round of site visits together with our visiting engineer Mr. Steffen Ritterbusch from 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴𝟰𝗲𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁.

As part of the 𝘌𝘹𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵 𝘐𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘌𝘯𝘷𝘪𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘭 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘵𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯, funded by the 𝗚𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗙𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗡𝘂𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆, Mr. Ritterbusch visited several key locations to support the development of a new sewage sludge management system for BOI Industrial Zones.

𝗔𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘀, 𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼:

• current challenges in sludge drying,
• high costs linked to disposal,
• the regulatory landscape in Sri Lanka, and
• existing processes and technologies in waste processing.

These insights will guide a comprehensive feasibility study, including recommendations for suitable technological solutions, to be presented in 𝘼𝙥𝙧𝙞𝙡 2026.
