● Unless there is a specific disease or illness, children should be allowed to bathe or have a body wash with soap and water.
● This helps bring happiness and good hygiene to the child.
● When bathing /washing the body, pay close attention to the nails, ge***al area, earlobes, behind the ears and the navel.
● In addition to maintaining body hygiene, let’s get children accustomed to brushing their teeth well using fluoride toothpaste twice a day (for example, after breakfast and before bedtime). This is very important for maintaining oral health as well as for keeping their teeth healthy at all times.
● When a child is old enough to bathe independently, it is appropriate to start training them to clean their body thoroughly with soap on their own.
● If the child cannot bath alone, this should be done only by the mother, father, or a trusted caregiver. By having this done only by a specific person every time, the child can understand that only certain adults are capable of helping them with bathing and changing clothes. It is also essential to explain this to the child in a simple manner.
● While bathing a child, it is important to use correct names not only for the head, ears, arms, and legs but also for the ge***al areas (for example, for a boy, “pen*s” and for a girl, “vagina” or at least referring to “place where we P*e or Poo”) so that children become familiar to properly naming parts of their bodies from a young age. This is very important for the child's safety.
