🚑 BLS Training Session for Ambulance Drivers | 21st October 2025
💪 Strengthening the First Responders of Our Nation!

The Resuscitation Club of the Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, successfully conducted a Basic Life Support (BLS) training session for ambulance drivers, equipping them with essential lifesaving skills and practical knowledge.

With the guidance of our Senior Treasurer, Dr. Kawaya Botheju, and the dedication of our board and club members, this initiative focused on strengthening the first link in the chain of survival.

To assess the effectiveness of the session, a pre- and post-questionnaire was distributed among participants, and the results showed a remarkable improvement in their understanding and confidence after the training. The enthusiastic feedback and appreciation from the ambulance drivers made it all the more rewarding!

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed to making this program a success❤️

Restart a Heart Day!

අද අපි ජීවිතයක් බේරීමට හැකි බලය සමරන්නෙමු.
එක් හෘද ස්පන්දනයක්. එක් ක්‍රියාවක්. එක් ජීවිතයක්.🫀

Resuscitation Club මගින් අපි මේ ගැන සමාජය දැනුවත්කිරීම, ජීවිත බේරාගැනීමේ කුසලතා ඉගැන්වීම, සහ ඒ වෙනුවෙන් තත්පර කිහිපයකින් ක්‍රියාත්මක වීමට විශ්වාසය වර්ධනය කිරීම සඳහා කැපවී සිටිමු.

අප සමඟ එක්වන්න!!
හෘදයන් නැවත පනගන්වන්න, අනාගතයන් නැවත ලියන්න, වෙනසක් කරන්න, මන්ද ජීවිතයක් බේරීමට හැකි බලය ඔබට ඇත!!💓

இன்று “Restart a Heart Day” நாளில், ஒரு உயிரினை காப்பாற்றும் அறிவின் முக்கியத்துவத்தை நினைவு கூறுகின்றோம்.
ஒரு இதயத் துடிப்பு. ஒரு செயல். ஒரு உயிர் காப்பாற்றப்படுகின்றது..🫀

எமது Resuscitation Club இல் நாம், இக்கட்டான தருணத்தில் கிடைக்கும் ஒவ்வொரு நொடியினதும் முக்கியத்துவத்தினை உணர்த்துவதோடு, விழிப்புணர்வுனை பரப்பி, திறன்களை கற்பித்து, தன்னம்பிக்கையையும் உருவாக்கி வருகின்றோம்.

வாருங்கள்.... எம்முடன் இணைந்து ...... இதயங்களை மீள துடிக்கவைத்து , விதிகளை மாற்றி அமைக்கும் ஒரு இயக்கத்தின் பகுதியாகுங்கள்!

On June 5th, 2025, the Resuscitation Club of the Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura proudly organized a hands-on Basic Life Support (BLS) Workshop for the 34th batch. 💪

This session aimed to enhance students' practical skills in life-saving techniques and was conducted under the guidance of our Senior Treasurer, Dr. Kawaya Botheju, along with the support of our dedicated board members and club members .🙌

The board members of the Resuscitation Club, FMS USJ, have successfully completed their Basic Life Support (BLS) provider certification with the European Resuscitation Council (ERC), conducted at the College of Anaesthesiologists & Intensivists of Sri Lanka.

A heartfelt thank you to our own Dr. Kavya Boteju for helping us make this possible. We’re also deeply grateful to Dr. Nilmini Wijesuriya, Chair of the Resuscitation Council, and all the dedicated ERC instructors for their guidance and expertise throughout the training.

This training was carried out as part of the World Restart a Heart (WRAH) initiative, a global movement to raise awareness and equip communities with life-saving resuscitation skills.

So this... is just the beginning. Now it's time to pass on this life-saving knowledge. Stay tuned as we gear up to build a community that’s informed, prepared, and empowered to act when every second counts. 💪🩺

The first Annual General Meeting of the Resuscitation Club of the Medical Faculty, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, was successfully held on March 4th, 2025. This milestone event marked the official introduction of the club and the appointment of its inaugural committee.

Occation was graced by the presence of Dr. Manori Gamage, Dean of the Faculty of Medical Sciences Univerversity of Sri Jayewardenapura, Senior Treasurer Dr. Kawya Boteju, union members, the club’s founding members, and medical students
