Zwedru Marketers Challenge President’s Job Claims; Call for Economic Reality Check in Grand Gedeh

February 9, 2026

Marketers in Zwedru, Grand Gedeh County, have expressed strong disagreement with President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s recent 2026 State of the Nation Address, specifically regarding the government’s claim of creating 70,000 jobs for Liberians over the past year.

In a series of local engagements today February 9, 2026, marketers in the Zwedru Central Market described the President’s figures as disconnected from the reality of life in the southeast. The group argued that the lack of formal employment remains the primary reason the market is overcrowded, as citizens struggle to find alternative means of survival.

The marketers emphasized that their presence in the streets and stalls of Zwedru is a sign of resilience in the face of unemployment, rather than a choice made in a thriving economy. They are urging the Boakai administration to move beyond speech-based progress and invest in tangible industries that would create real, sustainable jobs in Grand Gedeh County.

New Hope Flows at Gondama Clinic: Clean Water and Sanitation Transform Healthcare in Grand Cape Mount

February 10, 2026 — Access to safe water and proper sanitation has received a major boost at Gondama Clinic following the successful completion of a new WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) project by the Ministry of Health in partnership with WaterAid Liberia.

The initiative saw the rehabilitation of the clinic’s borehole, accompanied by thorough water quality testing to ensure safety. A modern water tower was erected, polytanks installed, and a piped water distribution network connected across the facility to guarantee a steady supply of clean water.

To further promote hygiene and patient safety, a general handwashing station was constructed alongside washbasins strategically placed at points of care. The project also delivered a newly built one-cubicle latrine for the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) ward, significantly improving sanitation for mothers and children.

Health workers and community members have welcomed the development, describing it as a life-changing improvement that will enhance service delivery, reduce infection risks, and restore dignity to healthcare at Gondama Clinic.

Former Ruling Political Party CDC Expels Three Senior Members Over Alleged Disloyalty

Monrovia, Liberia – February 9, 2026
The Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) has announced the immediate expulsion of three senior political figures from its ranks, citing prolonged acts of disloyalty and violations of the party’s constitution and bylaws.

In a statement issued on Monday by the Office of the National Chairman, the CDC said the decision followed what it described as nearly 18 months of conduct deemed damaging to the party’s interests and principles.

Those expelled are Grand Gedeh Senator Zoe E. Pennue, Kanio Bai Gbala, and Samson Weah, Representative of Sinoe County District Two.

According to the release, the expulsions were carried out in line with several provisions of the CDC constitution, including Sections 38, 39, 41(A), 42, 44, 45, 46, and 47. Section 47 outlines circumstances under which party membership may cease, including voluntary withdrawal, transfer of loyalty to another political party, or expulsion endorsed by the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC).

The party accused the expelled members of using public platforms to denigrate the CDC and of aligning themselves with the ruling Unity Party-led government actions the CDC says are inconsistent with its values and opposition stance.

“The CDC does not condone such conduct and hereby affirms that these individuals are no longer affiliated with the party in any form,” the statement said.

In unusually strong language, the party leadership described the actions of the expelled members as “treacherous” and warned other members against engaging in what it termed “deviant and anti CDC conduct.” The CDC further cautioned the public against doing business with the expelled individuals in the name of the party, stating that any such engagement would be done at one’s own risk.

The statement, signed by National Chairman Janga A. Kowo, reaffirmed the CDC’s commitment to its people centered principles and said the party remains focused on rebuilding and preparing for the 2029 general elections.

As of publication, there has been no official public response from the expelled members.

When the Crowd Took the Lead Students’ Voices Shape Christoph The Change’s Unplanned Moment on Campus

By: Build FM staff

New details have surfaced surrounding Christoph The Change’s recent performance at the St. Teresa Convent Catholic School campus, shedding light on how one unexpected song became the highlight of the event.

Sources revealed that the rapper was originally scheduled to perform five tracks: “Blessing,” “Akazuku,” “Handbag,” “Landlord Daughter,” and “Hold Your Polaruh.” Notably, “Nut Bag Seed” was never included in the official setlist.

However, as Christoph arrived on campus and made his way toward the stage, students welcomed him with loud chants of the song, singing along with excitement and repeatedly calling for it to be performed.

The overwhelming energy of the crowd reportedly influenced the moment, turning the students into the driving force behind the request. This strongly suggests that the performance was sparked by the audience’s enthusiasm rather than a deliberate choice by either the artist or the school administration.

What began as a planned concert quickly transformed into a shared experience between artist and students a powerful reminder of how music connects hearts and how youthful joy can shape unforgettable moments.
