Stronger Together for Our Children

Today we proudly facilitated the handover of a newly improved reception classroom and playground at Hoohlo Primary School — a project made possible through the generosity and compassion of our valued partners, Mr. and Mrs. McGuire.

This initiative is a powerful reminder that lasting community impact is born through collaboration, shared values, and a collective commitment to early childhood development. Starting in May 2023, Lesotho-Boston Health Alliance successfully started a Center of Excellence (COE) in Team-Based, Community-Orientated, Primary Health Care at Motebang Hospital,Leribe. Funded by the Izumi foundation, this initiative set out to improve care for patients with complex non-communicable diseases through integrated patient they sent it primary services.
A dedicated multidisciplinary team, comprising of Family Medicine specialists, a Pediatrician and a Social Worker delivering high-quality primary care with consistently high satisfaction scores on routinely collected patient experience surveys.

Learning, Collaboration and Growing in Action
Our recent Ultrasound training brought 13 healthcare professionals from Leribe, Maseru and Thaba-Tseka together for hands on learning that strengthens clinical skills and improves patient care.
By investing in capacity building, we contribute to better diagnosis, informed decision-making, and healthy communities.

In line with strengthening the healthcare capacity of Lesotho, the ministry of health, through Lesotho-Boston Health Alliance, is advancing the implementation of Primary Care Assessment (PCAT) across the country. Building on this mandate, LeBoHA, convened a stakeholders’ meeting to engage partners on the study’s objectives, structure, and areas of enhancement.
The session was conducted in Sesotho to promote inclusivity, and ensure clarity, and support meaningful participation from all stakeholders. The engagement also led to the establishment of the PCAT advisory committee, dedicated to reinforcing a shared commitment to coordinate action, accountability, and effective implementation of this studies objectives.
