🔹PROSTATIC HYPERPLASIA TREATMENT WITH HoLEP (Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate)

- What is HoLEP?
HoLEP is a modern, minimally invasive surgical procedure used to treat problems caused by an enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia, BPH). During the operation, a surgeon uses a holmium laser to carefully remove the overgrown prostate tissue that blocks urine flow. The enucleated tissue is then removed from the bladder using a device called a morcellator.

- Which conditions can be treated with HoLEP?

1️⃣ Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH): Non-cancerous enlargement of the prostate causing urinary difficulties.
2️⃣ Urinary retention: When the bladder cannot empty fully due to obstruction from the prostate.
3️⃣ Recurrent urinary tract infections or bladder stones caused by poor emptying.
4️⃣ Kidney problems linked to long-term obstruction.

HoLEP is particularly effective for men with very large prostates (even >100–200 ml in size), where traditional surgery may carry more risks.

What are expected outcomes of the treatment with HoLEP?
✅ Often patient is living with a catheter. HoLEP procedure brings patient back to the normal life without wearing a catheter.
✅ Strong improvement in urinary flow and bladder emptying.
✅ Relief of symptoms such as frequent urination, weak stream, urgency, or waking at night to urinate.
