THE SCIENTIFIC AND PROFESSIONAL MEETING BETWEEN
MOROCCAN PROFESSIONAL NURSING ASSOCIATIONS AND
THE NURSE PRACTITIONER ASSOCIATION OF NEW YORK STATE
In the presence of the President of the Moroccan Organization of Nursing and the Right to Health, the President of the Moroccan Association of Nurses in Advanced Care, the President of the National Association of Assistants in the Medico-Social Field, and representatives of the Moroccan Association of General Nurses, together with the permanent partner of these associations the President of the Organization for Development, Peace, and Interfaith Coexistence, a scientific and professional meeting was held with a delegation from the Nurse Practitioner Association of New York State (NPA-NYS), led by Dr. Lorraine Von Eeden.
During this meeting, participants discussed and examined a range of important topics related to the health sector in both the Kingdom of Morocco and the United States of America, particularly in the field of nursing sciences. The main discussion points included:
The Nursing Board in the United States and its vital role in regulating the profession, protecting citizens rights and health from potential risks or misconduct, and ensuring that nurses academic and professional pathways are well structured, legally framed, and responsibly governed. All participants agreed that the New York Nursing Board model represents an inspiring and practical example that could guide Morocco’s efforts to establish a National Nursing Board.
The structuring of nursing practice according to specialization from education to professional engagement with the possibility of changing specialties after completing additional training and passing a specific qualification exam. This structured approach is made possible through a legal framework based on a comprehensive Nursing Practice Classification System.
A presentation of the latest scientific developments in New York State concerning the prevention and treatment of HIV, along with an explanation of treatment and prevention policies.
An overview of the main health services provided across different age groups in New York State, highlighting the general policies that ensure access to healthcare and treatment for all population segments.
The meeting also included a constructive and insightful exchange comparing the nursing professions in Kingdom of Morocco and New York State, particularly regarding advanced nursing practices.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Moroccan delegation expressed its sincere appreciation and gratitude to the Nurse Practitioner Association of New York State for their kind invitation and warm hospitality. This meeting marks the beginning of an ongoing professional and academic collaboration aimed at fostering the exchange of expertise and knowledge, and drawing inspiration from successful international nursing experiences to further advance the nursing profession and strengthen its role in promoting public health.
