FAQ for Lapa-app
1. How many Lapas can one smartphone control?
You can control unlimited Lapas with your Lapa App. This includes your Lapas, the Lapas that your friends share with you, and public Lapas that you accept to help find.
2. What is the range/reach of Lapa?
You can beep & scan a Lapa up to 130 feet (40m) in sight range. Yet, this can be shorter depending on the environment. But because every Lapa you own connects you to the vast Lapa newtork, you can virtually track your Lapa anywhere, with aid of all users from the Lapa community, as they will update your Lapa's position when they pass by its 130 feet range.
3. How long does Lapa's battery last?
Lapa will last up to 8 months running on a single battery, and can be easily replaced.
4. What kind of battery does Lapa use?
Lapa uses the most common CR2016 watch battery. You can find it in any convenient store.
5. Is Lapa's battery replaceable?
Yes. To replace the battery, easily detach your Lapa's upper case using our opening mechanism.
6. Is Lapa waterproof?
No. In order to assure a replaceable battery and a clearly hearable sound, we had to compromise waterproofing. Yet, Lapa is suitable for everyday use being splash and rain resistant.
7. What can I attach my Lapas to?
You can attach your Lapas to anything you don't want to lose. You can firmly stick it, hang it from a key ring or string, or drop it in any pocket.
8. What smartphones are compatible with the Lapa App?
iOS devices with Bluetooth 4.0 (iPhone 4S, 5, 5S, 5C, 5S) and compatible Android devices with Android 4.3 (or later) and Bluetooth 4.0 (Samsung Galaxy S3, S4, S5, Note3, Note4; Google Nexus 5, 6; LG G2, G3; HTC One; Sony Xperia Z2, Z3; Moto X).
9. Can I access/control my Lapas from different smartphones?
Yes. Access you Lapas from any smartphone with Bluetooth 4.0 or later using your Facebook or Lapa login.
10. Does the Lapa App recognize the color of my Lapas?
Yes. We use an identification algorithm that automatically assigns the color of your Lapas in the Lapa App so you can easily identify them.
11. Will tracking other user's Lapas consume more battery of my phone?
We have put a lot of effort into creating an intelligent algorithm that will minimize the battery consumption of your smartphone while running the 'Community Track' in the background. You can also turn off the 'Community Track' from the Lapa App every time you want.
12. Can other Lapa users track and scan my Lapas?
Never. Unless you explicitly decide to share access to you Lapas, or publicly report them as lost, only you can see where they are.
13. Do other Lapa users know when I pass by their Lapas?
No. Lapa takes privacy issues very seriously. No user in the Lapa network will know when he or she passes by your Lapas, and neither will you know when you pass by theirs (unless they explicitly share it or report it as lost).
14. If I publicly report a Lapa as lost can anyone within the Lapa network see it, access it and find it for me?
Yes. The 'Go Public' feature is exactly for when you choose to request the help of the whole community to find your Lapas for you. This means that any Lapa user that passes by the Lapa you publicly reported as lost, will be instantly invited to access it, find it, and return it to you by contacting you through Facebook, Email or through the Lapa App.
