• Metformin is commonly used to manage diabetes in conjunction with your diet
• It works by decreasing the body’s natural production of sugar by the liver
👩⚕️How to use
• Administer with a meal to decrease GI upset
Common side effects
• Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, hypoglycemia, and metallic taste
👩⚕️Adverse interactions
• Alcohol, ranitidine, digoxin, trimethoprim can increase the effects of metformin, leading to hypoglycemia
• Diuretics, corticosteroids, thyroid products, estrogens, oral contraceptives, calcium blocking drugs and isoniazid can decrease the effects of metformin and tend to produce hyperglycemia

• Severe fatigue, muscle aches, exhaustion, and heavy rapid breathing
