Update on our Flood Relief Effort
Convenience Prosperity Co. Ltd, (Case New Holland) were at Ye Gyu Township in the Ayeyarwaddy Division to provide immediate aid to villages impacted by the floods.

Staff of Pathein and Hinthada Branches worked tirelessly, enduring strong winds and terrible road conditions to get to the villagers.

Bags of rice, drinking water and instant noodles were donated to help villagers tie over. There are about 300 households in Magyi La Har village.

SPA ေရေဘးသင့္ျပည္သူမ်ား ရန္ပုံေငြအဖြဲ႕၏ ေနာက္ဆံုးစီမံကိန္းျဖစ္သည့္ ေရတာ၀ါတိုင္စီမံကိန္းသည္ ယခုဆိုလၽွင္ ၿပီးေျမာက္ခဲ့ၿပီျဖစ္သည္။ မင္းျပားျမိဳ႕နယ္တြင္ တည္ေဆာက္ၿပီးစီးခဲ့သည့္ ေရတာ၀ါတိုင္ႏွစ္ခုကို ရြာသူရြာသားမ်ားျဖင့္ ဖြဲ႔စည္းထားသည့္ ေကာ္မတီသို႔ ေအာင္ျမင္စြာ လႊဲေျပာင္းေပးအပ္ခဲ့သည္။ ထိုေကာ္မတီတြင္ ေကာ္မတီ၀င္ (၇) ဦး ႏွင့္ အဖြဲ႔၀င္ေပါင္း (၂၅) ဦးတို႔ပါ၀င္ၿပီး ၎တို႔မွ ေရတာ၀ါတိုင္ႏွင့္ ပက္သက္သည့္ ထိန္းသိမ္းေစာင့္ေရွာက္မႈမ်ားကို ဆက္လက္လုပ္ေဆာင္သြားမည္။ ေရတာ၀ါတိုင္မ်ားကို ေတာင္ေခ်ရြာရွိ အိမ္ေထာင္စုေပါင္း (၂၈၈)၊ မင္းရြာရွိ အိမ္ေထာင္စုေပါင္း (၃၀၀)၊ ျမစ္နားရြာရွိ အိမ္ေထာင္စုေပါင္း (၂၉၀) ႏွင့္ အ၀ရြာရွိ အိမ္ေထာင္စုေပါင္း (၁၄၅) တို႔မွ ေန႔စဥ္သံုးစြဲမႈအတြက္ အသံုးျပဳႏိုင္မည္ျဖစ္သည္။

SPA Group Flood Relief Fund completed its final relief project, which are two water towers. We successfully handed over the newly built water towers to a committee. The committee consists of villagers from nearby villages, who will be responsible for future maintenance of the water towers. 288 households from Taung Chay Village, 300 households from Min Ywar Village, 290 households from Myit Nar Ywar Village and 145 households from A Wa Ywar Village will be using the water towers for their daily consumption.

To continue raising fund for the SPA Group Flood Relief initiative, Pun Hlaing Golf Estate (PHGE) organised a Fun Run last Saturday. About 100 residents of the Estate participated in the run to support the cause. The par course of the race was set up with hedge jumps, limbo stations and other fun surprises. Personnel from different entities of the SPA Group came to the race to support. After the race, the participants could enjoy a breakfast together. All the registration fees and breakfast sales were added to the SPA Group Flood Relief Fund.

In our collaboration with Waves4Water, SPA Group visited more villages and townships in Rakhine State this week.

Melvyn Pun, Director of SPA Group and CEO of Yoma Strategic Holdings, donated water filters during his visit to Pauk Taw Township.

We are very grateful for the support of the Rakhine regional government and local community in this clean water project.

SPA Flood Relief team is collaborating with Waves for Water. We were in Myinbar and other towns around Mrauk U to distribute water filters. This is a very simple technique to purify water by just using a filter and a bucket. Please check www.wavesforwater.org to see how the filters work and for background information on Waves for Water.

We distributed water filters and buckets to village and town administrators, school teachers and monks. We are working closely with these key people in the community to ensure that aid reaches the most needed places. Since last Tuesday we were able to reach 15 town and villages.

SPA Flood Relief Fund Update: We are privileged to be able to work with Mrauk U Sayardaw, (his name is Sayardaw War Yar Main Da) and his extensive distribution network in Rakhine State. He is the head monk and the most well known monk of Rakhine State.

The large red machinery pictured are water pumps donated by the relief fund to the Sayardaw -- 3 x 4 inch high velocity pumps with12 horsepower engine and hose. The Sayardaw has hired, with his own resources, a team that will use the pumps to drain and clean water reservoirs for villages in the Mrauk U villages. There are over 100 villages surrounding Mrauk U alone and he has hired a team to use the pumps that we donated to pump the reservoirs in as many villages as possible. They will move, maintain and oversee the draining and cleaning of each reservoir personally.

The three high velocity pumps can drain a large reservoir in roughly 2 hours. So including travel time, these pumps and this team can drain the reservoirs in at least 2 villages in 1 day. Each village usually has 2 to 3 reservoirs, meaning that this can drain around 4 to 6 reservoirs on average in 24 hours.

ပုံတြင္ျမင္ေတြ႔ရေသာ ႀကီးမ်ားသည့္ အနီေရာင္စက္မ်ားမွာ SPA ေရေဘးကယ္ဆယ္ေရးရံပုံေငြ မွ ဆရာေတာ္သို႔ လွဴဒါန္းထားသည့္ ေရစုပ္စက္မ်ားျဖစ္ၿပီး ျမင္းေကာင္ေရ (၁၂)ေကာင္အားရွိအင္ဂ်င္ ႏွင့္ ေရပိုက္ပါရွိေသာ အင္ဂ်င္လည္ပတ္ႏႈန္းအားေကာင္းသည့္ ေရစုပ္စက္မ်ားျဖစ္သည္။ ဆရာေတာ္သည္ ၎၏ ကိုယ္ပိုင္ပစၥည္း အျဖစ္ကယ္ဆယ္ေရး အဖြဲ႔သို႔ ငွားရမ္းထားၿပီး ထိုအဖြဲ႔သည္ ေျမာက္ဦးရွိ ေက်းရြာမ်ားအတြက္ ေရကန္မ်ား ေရစုပ္ထုတ္ပန္႔ ႏွင့္ သန္႔ရွင္းရန္အတြက္ ထိုေရစုပ္စက္မ်ားကို အသုံးျပဳမည္ျဖစ္သည္။ ေျမာက္ဦးဝန္းက်င္ တစ္ခုတည္း၌ပင္ ေက်းရြာေပါင္း (၁၀၀)ေပါင္းရွိၿပီး ေက်းရြာမ်ားတြင္ ရႏို္င္သေရြ႕ ေရကန္မ်ားရွိ ေရမ်ားစုပ္ထုတ္ႏိုင္ရန္ ကြ်န္ေတာ္တို႔ လွဴဒါန္ခဲ့ေသာ ေရစုပ္စက္မ်ားအား ေရေဘးကယ္ဆယ္ေရးအဖြဲ႔တစ္ဖြဲ႔က အသုံးျပဳရန္ ငွားရမ္းထားျခင္းျဖစ္သည္။ ေရကန္တစ္ခုခ်င္းစီအားး ၎တို႔သည္ ေရႊ႕ေျပာင္းထိန္းသိမ္းႀကီးၾကပ္သြားမည္ျဖစ္ပါသည္။
အဆိုပါ လည္ပတ္မႈႏႈန္းျမင့္မားေသာ ေရစုပ္စက္သုံးလုံးသည္ ေရကန္ႀကီး တစ္ကန္ကို အၾကမ္းအားျဖင့္ ၂နာရီၾကာတြင္ စုပ္ထုတ္ႏိုင္ပါသည္။ သြားလာမႈ အခ်ိန္အပါအဝင္ ထိုေရစုပ္စက္မ်ားႏွင့္ ေရစုပ္ထုတ္ေရးအဖြဲ႔သည္ တစ္ေန႔လွ်င္ အနည္းဆုံး ေက်းရြာ (၂) ရြာရွိ ေရကန္မ်ားအား ေရစုပ္ထုတ္ႏိုင္ပါသည္။ အမ်ားအာျဖင့္ ေက်းရြာတစ္ရြာတြင္ ေရကန္ (၂) ကန္ မွ (၃) ကန္ရွိရာ ပ်မ္းမွ်အားျဖင့္ ၁၄နာရီအတြင္း ေရကန္ (၄) ကန္ မွ (၆) ကန္အထိ ေရစုပ္ထုတ္ႏိုင္ပါသည္။

SPA Group Floor Relief Update: The medical mobile team from Pun Hlaing Siloam Hospital has arrived in Mrauk Oo district, and have since made medical and aid relief trips to Sat Thar, Auk Si Maung, and Kyaung Daung villages. Sat That village required a 3-hour journey by boat; It’s a village with 510 households and 1,500 villagers. Nearly 40 houses were completely destroyed. Bad weather, difficulty of access to some of these village and logistical problem is still a huge challenge to bring aid and reconstruction support to these areas that are far from the bigger villagers.

SPA Group Flood Relief Update: The mobile medical team from Pun Hlaing Siloam Hospital led by Dr. Ye has reached Nan Thet village in Pauk Taw township, 16 miles away from Sittwe, via the arrangement of Da Nya Wa Di Navy. The village has a population of 1,200 and was affected by the flood.

On behalf of SPA Group Relief Fund supporters, we donated 50 bags of rice, food stuffs and also provided primary health care for the villagers. Today, the team will move to their base camp in Mrauk Oo Village.

အခုလို SPA Group ေရေဘးကယ္ဆယ္ေရးရံပံုေငြအဖြဲ႔မွာ ပါဝင္လွဴဒါန္းၾကတဲ့ KFC Myanmar ရဲ႕ စားသံုးသူမ်ားအားလံုးကို အထူးပဲေက်းဇူးတင္ရွိပါတယ္။

Last saturday, the SPA Group Relief Team conducted a ground assessment in Rakhine state and identified a number of immediate and long-term recovery needs of the people living in areas affected by the flooding such as Mrauk Oo and Min Pyar. Donations and contributions towards the SPA Group Flood Relief Fund will be used to support relief efforts in these areas, including the direct delivery of drinking water, water filters, water pumps and medical supplies. We will share further updates in due course.

A BIG SHOUT-OUT TO ALL MYANMAR SUPPORTERS -- SPA Group Flood Relief Fund Committee would like to thank our friends and partners who have been generous in donating to support our ongoing efforts.

Despite the help that many organisations are channeling to the affected areas, the affected communities are still in dire need of help and we encourage people to continue their generous support for the flood relief whether through the SPA Group Flood Relief Fund or other NGOs on the ground.

We continue to work closely with the local communities and civil society organisations in Rakhine State so that we can maximise the impact by combining their local knowledge and network to reach those in need. We are thankful of the donation received and rest assured we are putting it to good use.
