At Little Eagles, our babies and toddlers are learning something BIG every day… even when it looks like “just play.” 🧸✨

For our 16–24 month little ones, big feelings often come out through play before they can fully express them with words.
When your child throws a block, says “mine!”, has a meltdown over the blue cup, or pushes a friend away, they are not being “bad.” They’re communicating.

At this age, language is still developing. Concerns about speech delays, tantrums, and not sharing are very common — and very normal. Play is how toddlers practice what they don’t yet have words for.

🧠 Dumping toys? Exploring control and cause-and-effect.
💬 Repeating sounds or gestures? Building language foundations.
😤 Tantrums? Overwhelmed nervous systems learning regulation.
🧩 Parallel play (not sharing yet)? Developmentally appropriate social learning.

Yesterday, our toddlers explored the theme of Friendship through hands-on sensory art. They experimented with different paint textures using their palms and practiced social interaction by shaking hands and discovering how colors mix when working together.

The children proudly added their handprints to a teacher-prepared “Friendship Tree,” symbolizing connection and unity. They also explored painting with various materials, encouraging curiosity and creativity.

It was a joyful, play-filled day where friendships grew and the children practiced cooperation, self-expression, and togetherness.

မနေ့ကတော့ Little Eagles ရဲ့ အသက် (၁) နှစ်မှ (၃) နှစ်အရွယ် ကလေးငယ်လေးတွေအနေနဲ့ Friendship ခေါင်းစဥ်နဲ့အတူ စိတ်ဝင်စားစရာကောင်းပြီး သူတို့လေးတွေကိုယ်တိုင်ပါဝင်ရတဲ့ Sensory art ဖန်တီးမှု အစီအစဥ်လေးမှာ ပါဝင်ခဲ့ကြပါတယ်။ ကလေးငယ်တွေကိုယ်တိုင် လက်ဖဝါးလေးတွေပေါ်မှာ ဆေးရောင်စုံတွေ ခြယ်တာမျိုး၊ ရောင်စုံလက်လေးတွေ ဖြစ်သွားတဲ့အခါမှာ သူငယ်ချင်းအချင်းချင်း လက်ဆွဲနှုတ်ဆက် လက်ဝါးချင်းရိုက်တဲ့ပုံစံမျိုးလေးတွေ လုပ်စေတာမို့ ကလေးအချင်းချင်း ရင်းနှီးမှုရအောင် တည်ဆောက်ပေးပြီးသား ဖြစ်စေသလို၊ အခုလို အတူတူ ပူးပေါင်းလုပ်ဆောင်ရင်းကနေတစ်ဆင့် အရောင်တွေရဲ့ ပြောင်းလဲမှုတွေကို လက်တွေ့ နားလည်သွားစေပါတယ်။

Why does parallel play matter?

For toddlers (especially between the ages of 2 and 3), parallel play — playing side-by-side without directly interacting — is not a social delay. It’s a developmental milestone.

Research in early childhood development, beginning with sociologist Mildred Parten, identified parallel play as a critical stage of social growth. Children first learn to feel safe near peers before they learn to share, cooperate, and take turns.

🧠 What research shows:

✅Toddlers learn by observing others’ actions (social learning theory, Albert Bandura).
✅Language grows through proximity and exposure to peer modeling.
✅Emotional regulation develops when children practice being near others without becoming overwhelmed.

Parallel play builds the foundation for:

✔️ Cooperative play
✔️ Turn-taking
✔️ Social confidence

So if your two-year-old isn’t sharing yet, that’s not a red flag — it’s brain development at work.

အသက် (၂ နှစ် - ၃ နှစ်) အရွယ် ကလေးငယ်တွေမှာ Parallel Play ဆိုတာက တစ်ယောက်နဲ့တစ်ယောက် ဘေးချင်းကပ်ပြီး ကစားနေကြပေမဲ့ တိုက်ရိုက် အတူတူ မကစားသေးတဲ့ ကစားပုံကို ဆိုလိုပါတယ်။ ဒီလိုကစားတဲ့ပုံစံကို ကလေးတွေရဲ့ လူမှုဆက်ဆံရေးပိုင်းမှာ နှောင့်နှေးနေတယ်ဆိုပြီး သတ်မှတ်လို့ မရပါဘူး။ တကယ့်တကယ်က ကလေးငယ်တွေ ဖွံ့ဖြိုးတိုးတက်မှုအတွက် အစပျိုးတဲ့ အဆင့်တစ်ခုပဲ ဖြစ်ပါတယ်။
