Let’s talk about feet!
We stand most of the day and our feet are needed for almost anything we do.
Walking, Running, Cycling, Squatting, Climbing you name it!
Healthy feet are the fundamental requirement for a healthy body!
Unfortunately due to design, development and a radical change of lifestyle some shoes are making feet weak, stiff and painful. Low arches, and cramped toes are a common sight nowadays.
Sedentary life is weakening our bodies and as a result of it we got too familiar with conditions like: Athlete’s foot, Bunions, plantar fasciitis, hammer toe and an endless list of conditions.
The holistic approach I believe in it is based on two main principles:
- Our body is an almost perfect machine perfectly able to heal itself and with minimal external aids and the right training perfectly capable of perform even the most extreme tasks.
-Everything in our body is connected.
For these reasons the pain and discomfort you are feeling in your feet might be affecting your knee, hip, spine and yes it might be the very cause of that stiff neck that is bothering you from a lifetime!
That's why the holistic approach do not focus only on the symptomatic area.
Are you a deadlift, squat maniac? 🏋️♀️
Focusing on proper feet/toes stabilisation and grounding will eventually lead you to bigger, better and heavier lifts!
There are tons of research out there guys, do not take my word for it! Just have a look. Drop, narrow toe boxes and extreme cushioning are some of the stuff you can and should look out for when purchasing your new pair of shoes! Your foot can do it all by itself! It just needs time to adapt!
For the most daring and more radical people there are also plenty of options for barefoot shoes!
