This is a completely normal response—muscles sometimes contract involuntarily when they’re tight, overworked, or releasing tension. It’s your body’s way of saying it’s working!

It’s always eye-opening to put myself in my clients shoes (or running shoes🤪)

Feeling how much the legs and hips work through every stride gives me an even better understanding of what runners muscles need both for performance and recovery 💡

Recovery matters JUST as much as training 💆🏼‍♀️ (My clients already know how much I remind them of this 😄)

Hey everyone ☺️👋🏼 I’m Thea — the sports massage therapist behind Massage To Go by Thea! 💆🏻‍♀️

I’ve been working out of Tripod Fitness for the past year, and I’ve recently started offering sessions at The Met Hub too! Super excited to be expanding and helping even more people move and feel better 💪🏼

I got into sports massage because I’m fascinated by how the body works and how the right treatment can completely change how you move, perform, and recover. Every session is tailored to what your body truly needs — whether that’s releasing tension, improving mobility, or restoring balance.

When I’m not in the treatment room, I try to balance work with the things that keep me grounded — training, nature, and a bit of downtime 🌿

How I prepared for a HYROX race as an athlete & sports massage therapist:

🏋🏽‍♀️Training balance - mixing endurance, strength, and functional workouts.

🥩Fueling smart - focusing on protein, carbs, and
hydration leading up to race day.

💤Rest & recovery - prioritizing sleep and active recovery.

💆🏼‍♀️Sports massage - scheduling massages before the race to release tightness, and after to speed up recovery and reduce soreness.

🧘🏼‍♀️Mobility work - stretching, foam rolling, and joint
prep to stay injury-free.

🧠Mindset - Just have fun and kick some ass!

Massage isn't only for after the race — it's part of my preparation. laking care of your body before and atter an event helps improve performance, reduce soreness, and speed up recovery
