🌟 ACTIVATE: jibni Appoġġ għal Żgħażagħ Awtistiċi

Tokyo, Uffiċjal tal-Proġett ta' ACTIVATE, ġiet iddijanjostikata bl-awtiżmu fl-età ta' disa' snin.

Għal kważi għaxar snin, hija navigat l-iskola u l-ħajja soċjali tagħha tħossha ħuta barra mil-ilma u nċerta għaliex kienet tħossha differenti.

L-iskoperta tad-dijanjosi tagħha, snin wara, kienet punt ta' bidla, li tatha ċarezza u sens ta' direzzjoni.

Hi minħabba esperjenzi bħal dawn li Tokyo għandha passjoni għal Proġett ta' ACTIVATE: proġett li jagħti s-setgħa liż-żgħażagħ awtistiċi b'ħiliet li jgħinuhom jitkellmu d-drittijiet tagħhom, jagħtihom għarfien tad-drittijiet li għandhom, kif ukoll strateġiji prattiċi biex jinnavigaw ix-xogħol, l-edukazzjoni, u l-kura tas-saħħa.

Permezz tal-Akkademja, u l-workshops li ġejjin, il-parteċipanti qed jibnu l-kunfidenza, isibu leħinhom, u joħolqu s-sistema ta' appoġġ li huma jeħtieġu -appoġġ li Tokyo xtaqet li kellha meta kienet iżgħar.

🎉 We at CRPD are kicking off our ‘Rock Your Socks’ celebration! 🧦💙💛

March 21 may be World Down Syndrome Day, but we’re starting the hype today, as a prelude to tomorrow. This celebration reminds us about representation and inclusion.

Why socks? Chromosomes resemble socks, and the mismatched sock represents the triplication of the 21st chromosome that results in Down syndrome.

🧦 Check out our collagues celebrating the day with these fun and bold combination of socks
..and stay tuned tomorrow for a special interview is coming soon!

Later last week, our Disability Equality Trainers - Joann Spiteri and Blaine Schembri - led a disability awareness session with the Year 3 students at Żejtun Primary A.

It turned into a really interactive session, and our team noticed how comfortable the students felt asking questions and sharing their thoughts about disability awareness and inclusion.

🌟 ACTIVATE: Building Support for Autistic Youth

🎥 Watch video produced by the Directorate for Disability Issues - Malta

Tokyo, a Project Officer at ACTIVATE, was diagnosed with autism at nine years of age.

For nearly a decade, she navigated school and social life feeling out of place, unsure why she was different.
Discovering her diagnosis years later was a turning point, giving clarity and a sense of direction.

That experience fuels their passion for ACTIVATE: a project that empowers autistic young people with self-advocacy skills, knowledge of their rights, and practical strategies to navigate work, education, and healthcare.

Through the Pilot Academy and upcoming workshops, participants are building confidence, finding their voice, and creating the support system they need - support Tokyo wishes she had growing up.
