Prenatal pilates by The Pilates Midwife start at the MyMama Hub this January!

The Prenatal Pilates Programme energises you with dynamic, functional workouts designed to build strength, stability, and body awareness. Combining pilates principles with pelvic health techniques, each session focuses on activating deep core muscles to help prevent or improve diastasis recti and reduce incontinence symptoms.

Alongside strengthening exercises, the programme includes targeted stretches to ease back pain, sciatica, and body stiffness - promoting comfort and mobility as your pregnancy progresses. Whether youโ€™re new to pilates or continuing your fitness journey, this holistic approach supports both your physical well-being and emotional balance.

Sessions are led by Danica, a qualified midwife and APPI-certified Prenatal & Postnatal Pilates Instructor.

Meet Danica Borg, our newest addition to the MyMama team - Senior Midwife and Prenatal & Postnatal Pilates Instructor.

Danica brings a balance of science and soul to her work. With nearly a decade of midwifery experience at Mater Dei Hospital and a deep passion for womenโ€™s health, she guides expectant and new mums with both expertise and empathy.

Her love for movement led her to become a certified Pilates instructor, merging midwifery and mindful movement to help women feel strong, supported and connected to their bodies throughout pregnancy and beyond.

At MyMama, Danica offers one-to-one midwife services for expectant and new parents, and *drumroll* from January 2026 sheโ€™ll also be leading prenatal and postnatal Pilates classes at our Naxxar hub.

Prenatal Pilates

Are you pregnant and wish to follow a fitness class? Pilates may be just the right thing for you!

Pilates is a safe low impact exercise that aims to build physical strength and maintain a positive mind throughout the pregnancy journey ahead.

Pilates exercises are simple and effective, targeting the core muscles and pelvic floor, to ensure that you keep fit during pregnancy whilst preparing your body for childbirth. As Pilates is very much focused on breathing, many mothers find that Pilates prepares them well for labour, when breathing control is key. Above all, Pilates helps correct your posture which in turn reduces the strain that pregnancy and today's busy lifestyle place on your pregnant body. Previous Pilates experience isn't necessary.

Sessions are held by a Pilates certified midwife who is also specifically qualified in ante- and post-natal Pilates by the internationally recognised Pilates institution, APPI.
