The Malta Human Genome Project

The Malta Human Genome Project A research project conducted by Centre of Molecular Medicine and Biobanking at the University of Malta, funded by MCST. Twitter: https://twitter.com/GenomicsMT

This research project is intended to discover new DNA variants that cause disease in Malta. These will then be developed into biomarkers for the development of new drugs and therapies. As proposed, a Maltese human reference genome database will be created having lasting benefits for the health sector and major impact on the society. The project aims to include 4000 Maltese research participants, representing 1% of the population and include individuals of different ages and gender based on Maltese family structures. If you are eligible and willing to participate, a blood sample will be required. This work is being conducted by Centre of Molecular Medicine and Biobanking at the University of Malta, funded by Malta Council for Science and Technology (MCST), in collaboration with Mater Dei Hospital.
