When it is dysregulated, the body stays in subtle tension.

The breath becomes shallow.
The shoulders remain slightly lifted.
Relaxation feels temporary.

Over time, this can feel like being constantly “on” -
even when there is no immediate reason.

The body is always sensing for safety.

When it doesn’t fully feel safe,
it remains in states of protection.

Nervous system regulation allows a shift into a more balanced state -
often referred to as the ventral vagal state.

Here, the body can soften.

The breath deepens.

When a nervous system has adapted to constant demand,
it doesn’t just forget how to relax.

It stays protective.

And protection often shows up in three ways:

You feel tense. Easily irritated. On edge.
Your body braces before your mind even understands why.

✈️ Flight —
You stay busy. Productive. Always “on.”

Why I’m Going Deeper.🪶

Over the years, I began noticing something.

Some clients didn’t just carry physical tension.
They carried vigilance.
Over-functioning.

A body that never fully exhaled.

And I realized…
Working only on muscles wasn’t enough.

The nervous system is the foundation.
If it doesn’t feel safe, the body will keep bracing — no matter how skilled the massage.

My own healing journey taught me this too.

So my work is evolving.

Not away from massage —
but deeper into what truly creates lasting change.

But muscles do not tighten without reason.

They respond to a nervous system that has been “on” for too long.
To a body that has learned to brace.
To a life that required strength before softness.

Tight shoulders are often protection.
A clenched jaw is often restraint.
A restless body is often vigilance.
