Space For Growth Clinic

Space For Growth Clinic One of the main functions, of living organisms, is growth; not only of our body but also of our souls.

Without it, we are static beings and our life energy is held within unused and wasted. To grow in every sense we need one modality and that is contact with our environment. At the Space for Growth clinic we provide a safe environment where those factors which are affecting your growth and thus stopping you from moving forward in life are explored in a respectful way by trained professionals in the field and the right support provided mostly through healthy contact in the form of genuine therapeutic relationships. It is only when you are accepted and seen for who you are, not for who you must be, that you can unleash the energy spent in a self destructive way of being and likewise find your own meaning of life.

My dissertation for my diploma to work with children and young people was a client's experience with anorexia nervosa. I had named it From Darkness to Light, The Journey of a Butterfly to express the suffering and the beauty of a young girl I had followed for years in therapy.

I never had the honour to meet or work with Julia but her story touched me immensely. It is the story of the Greatest Love of All, the getting out of the tunnel of shame and finally expressing the beauty that only self-love and the love of life can give.

I am sharing it to honour her celebration, her beauty and above all her courage.

A Celebration For Self Love June 16, 2020 Julia Borg This time last year and the year before that, I was edged with eating disorder thoughts. My life revolved around what I ate and how much I moved. Even though I was being treated in an eating disorder clinic, I wasn’t properly healing. It took ti...

Some reflections from an unprecedented experience of global trauma

I have been meaning to write this blog for weeks. A multitude of thoughts and reflections were racing through my head, still I was finding it hard to put them down in coherent sentences even if writing was always a preferred medium for me to express myself. But that was before Covid-19 took away…

A cursory look at the way we look at our health - is this perception true or does it clash with the actual reality of the state of our health today?

Dedicated to the many who died for the greed of a few in Genoa. There are many of us who run away with the idea that to be healthy one needs to keep a balanced diet, exercise regularly and do regular medical checks. Likewise we regard health as an individual commitment to ourselves. But is…

One of the worst nightmares for any child is to live in conflict within their own family environment not only because they lose their biggest source of security but mostly because they suffer neglect and challenges to the loyalty to their parents. Therapy is, at times, the only support for these children giving them a space not only to be heard but above all to be of major support to their fragmented self.

Dr.Moira Borg   The one particular thing about children is that they are vulnerable. Being unable to take care of themselves at such a young age, they are totally dependent on their environment for their survival and thus their wellbeing depends on its stability and healthy dynamics of relationship...

One of the core values of family is loyalty. It gives a sense of belonging and identity to its members and thus security to a growing child. At times however values in a family dynamic become more important than the family members themselves and those who refuse to adhere to the rules become the outcasts or orphans within the family.

Moira Borg For many centuries, the family has been seen to be the backbone of society. Satir (1998) describes it as “a microcosm of the world”, while Minuchin (2009) depicts it as the “laboratory” where its members are “imprinted with selfhood” that is, “the matrix of identity.” A....
