Stop trusting “Sugar Free” labels blindly. 🛑

When we started Mamori, we audited the top 500 “healthy” foods in public databases. The result was a complete mess.

We found items marked “Sugar Free” that were packed with Maltodextrin (which spikes insulin just like table sugar).

Because most apps use crowdsourced data like Open Food Facts, without any verification, nobody checks if the entries are actually safe.

For Mark’s dad, that error isn’t just a typo. It’s might mean a hospital visit.

We trusted the apps.

We paid for them all.

MyFitnessPal. Yuka.

And they all failed us.

One yelled about calories. My dad didn't need to lose weight.

The other gave "organic" juice a perfect score.

But for a diabetic, that juice was dangerous.

We realised the "Health Score" is a myth.

It is a trap for people with real conditions.

So we went back to reading labels manually.

Standing in the aisle. Googling ingredients.

Until we built the alternative.

Mamori doesn't care about popularity.

It only cares if the food fits YOU.

We built this for our fathers’. ❤️

My co-founder Stephen and I realized we were both going through the exact same struggle with our fathers. We were tired of guessing.
