We had the pleasure of welcoming Dr. Alex Borg to our base in Pembroke, where he took the time to see firsthand the work carried out daily by the Malta Red Cross.

From training over 4,000 individuals each year in first aid, to supporting national emergency response through our control room and 112 services, to lifeguarding operations and our growing support for the elderly — it was an opportunity to share both our impact and our vision for the future.

We truly appreciate the genuine interest shown in our people, our operations, and the realities of sustaining humanitarian work in Malta.

The Malta Red Cross had the pleasure of welcoming representatives from the Monaco Red Cross for a working visit centred on Water Rescue operations and Pre‑Hospital Emergency Medical Services.

This exchange provided a valuable opportunity to share operational experience, strengthen technical knowledge, and discuss best practices that enhance our collective capacity to respond to water‑related emergencies and crises.

Collaboration within the Movement remains essential to ensuring that our teams are prepared, coordinated, and ready to act when communities need us most.

🚑 Malta Red Cross is recruiting Emergency Medical Responders
Full-Time & Part-Time | Paid Role

If you stay calm under pressure, care deeply about people, and want to be on the front line when it truly matters, this role is for you.

As an Emergency Medical Responder, you’ll be part of our operational teams delivering first aid, basic life support, and emergency response at events and in real-life emergencies — including ambulance support when required.

This is a paid position with a competitive salary, full training provided, and the opportunity to make a tangible impact in the community.

🔍 Role Overview

- Provide prompt first aid and basic life support

- Assist with patient stabilisation and preparation for safe transport

- Respond to events and emergency situations

- Communicate effectively with the Control Room, team members, and healthcare staff

- Maintain high safety and operational standards

- Complete required documentation accurately

- Participate in trainings, drills, and team operations

✅ Requirements

- Physically fit and capable of lifting and assisting patients

- Able to remain calm and perform under pressure

- Valid driving licence and confident, safe driver

- Professional and respectful attitude when dealing with patients and the public

- Willingness to learn, follow protocols, and work as part of a team

- Good level of spoken English

Preferred (but not essential):

- Previous experience in first aid or emergency response

- Experience driving vans or larger vehicles

- Any medical or first aid training
