Coastguard Rescue Personnel – Malta Red Cross
The Malta Red Cross is seeking committed and capable individuals to join its Coastguard Rescue Unit in a paid, professional role supporting life-saving operations at sea.
This is not about titles or adrenaline.
It’s about discipline, teamwork, and showing up when conditions are rough and time matters.
Role Overview
As part of the Coastguard Rescue Unit, you will assist in maritime emergency response operations, including search and rescue, medical assistance, and operational support during adverse sea and weather conditions.
Rescue personnel may serve as:
• Rescue swimmers
• Boat operators (hold sea vessel license and expiriance)
• Jet ski operators (hold sea vessel license and expiriance)
Assignments depend on training, certification, and operational needs.
Key Responsibilities
• Participate in search and rescue operations at sea
• Assist casualties safely and efficiently
• Operate rescue vessels and equipment according to protocols
• Work closely with other emergency services and coordination centres
• Maintain readiness, equipment, and personal fitness
• Attend required training sessions, drills, and assessments
Requirements
• Strong swimming ability and physical fitness
• Ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure
• Availability for training and operational deployment
• Team-oriented mindset with respect for structure and procedures
• Willingness to operate in challenging sea and weather conditions Hold a Valid sea vessel license (with expirence)
Previous maritime, rescue, or emergency response experience is an asset but not always required. Training is provided.
